Melanated Moments with Erica is a series of guided meditation and impartations for your journey as a Melanated Woman pursuing wellness in the present moment and beyond. Be Well. Live Well. Love Well.
While elements of this offering will be therapeutic, it is not the same as personalized therapy.
Some grief never gets a funeral. But it still lives in you.
The friendship that faded without a goodbye. The dream that kept getting deferred until it started to feel like it belonged to someone else. The version of yourself you had to set down just to survive a season that asked too much. These are real losses — and they deserve to be grieved, even when no one organized a ceremony around them.
In this episode of Melanated Moments, licensed therapist and marriage coach Erica St. Bernard makes space for the grief that doesn’t fit the standard definition — and offers something that can be hard to find: permission to hold grief and gratitude at the same time. Not one instead of the other. Both, together, as the full truth of where you are.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
Why your loss doesn’t have to be obvious to be real
How to name what’s been buried under survival, responsibility, or shame
Why gratitude and grief are not enemies — and what happens when you try to use one to skip the other
What grief actually needs from you (hint: it’s not a solution)
Why the right community matters when you’re carrying something tender
What becomes possible when you stop minimizing what hurt and start telling the truth about it
Erica speaks directly to the experience of Black women who have been expected to hold everyone else together while quietly putting their own mourning in a drawer. If you’ve been told to move on, count your blessings, or just be strong — this conversation offers something different.
You are allowed to grieve. You are allowed to be grateful. You are allowed to hold both.

Spiritually Married, Spiritually Lonely: When Your Husband Isn't Where You Are in Faith
Some of you have been praying alone in a two-person marriage. He's there. The life is shared. But in faith, you've largely been on your own. Spiritually married. Spiritually lonely.
In this episode, licensed therapist and marriage coach Erica St. Bernard speaks directly to Black Christian wives navigating spiritual differences in marriage. We talk honestly about what this loneliness feels like from the inside, why it doesn't get discussed in church spaces, and what you can actually do — without pressuring your husband, losing your faith, or losing yourself in the process.
This is not a "leave him" episode. This is a "here's how to live faithfully in this complexity" episode — for the woman who still believes in her marriage and needs wisdom.

When You Outgrow a Friendship: Navigating Change with Grace
Have you grown — in your faith, your healing, your sense of self — and found that some friendships no longer fit the way they once did? If you've been editing yourself around people who used to feel like home, this episode gives you language, clarity, and a way forward without shame.
Licensed therapist and coach Erica St. Bernard explores the lonely in-between many women experience when relationships that once fit no longer do — and what to do about it without ghosting, performing an earlier version of yourself, or losing your integrity.
You'll walk away knowing how to tell genuine incompatibility from growing pains, when a friendship can evolve instead of end, and how to hold your own growth with humility rather than superiority. This episode also touches on how these same dynamics show up in family relationships, where the history is longer, and the stakes feel higher.
Changing doesn't mean you're betraying the people you love. And loving someone well doesn't require you to stay exactly the same.
