Challenges |Ep. 17| [MEN]tal Health Podcast
In this episode of The MHP, host Isaiah talks with Demani Anderson — a licensed therapist and founder of the "My Big Black Therapist" brand — about fatherhood, mental health, and authenticity in the Black community. They discuss the Daddy Stroller Social Club, a national movement bringing Black fathers together for connection and healing, along with topics like infant loss grief, men's emotional space during pregnancy, the alpha male myth, and the difference between licensed therapy and life coaching.Demani opens up about losing his mother at 21, building an intentional marriage rooted in faith and vulnerability, and how childhood experiences of being typecast for his size shaped his mission to challenge norms around masculinity. Find him at mybigblacktherapist.com and on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. Follow the Daddy Stroller Social Club at @daddystrollersocialclub and daddystrollersocialclub.com, and check out the QLC Network on Instagram and Facebook.

We explore the perspective of hospitals as businesses and the implications of viewing expectant mothers as clients. The discussion centers on the idea that, ultimately, healthcare institutions operate as businesses and their patients, including women giving birth, are their clients. We delve into the perspective that hospitals should be considered businesses, with a particular focus on the experience of women giving birth being equated to that of a client receiving a service. The discussion emphasizes the importance of recognizing the business dynamics of healthcare institutions and the implications this has on patient care and experiences.cited reference:https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/hestat/maternal-mortality/2023/maternal-mortality-rates-2023.htm#:~:text=The%20maternal%20mortality%20rate%20for,(Figure%202%2C%20Table)

Ep. 11 | Are you really a nice guy?
Dr. Michael Pariser: I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Los Angeles, CA. I have over 20 years of experience treating emotional issues. I am a certified psychoanalyst who practices from a Contemporary Relational model. I am also the author of No More Mr. Nice Guy: The Hero's Journey - A Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming an Integrated Male. I believe that at the heart of all mental health issues are feelings that are experienced as unbearable, so they are replaced by oversimplified approaches that don't work in the real world. The solution is to re-integrate your feelings, which will provide a greater sense of freedom, effectiveness, and aliveness. To do so, I utilize emotionally oriented, deep focus psychotherapy that gets directly to the root of problems, rather than focusing on relieving short term symptoms which will only come back again. Our goal is treatment that lasts. I am also a recovering Nice Guy. In addition to my personal work in this area, since 2012, I have been helping Nice Guys find their way to greater confidence and masculinity. for his services and mens group click here: https://drparisertherapy.com/
