And then everything changes: Zahida says something that we think many people will recognise.“Why do I feel like somebody’s just died?” Whether you’ve experienced divorce or not, many of us know what it feels like when something meaningful comes to an end. Perhaps it was: a marriage / relationship / friendship / family connection / career / a business / a dream you held for years. Sometimes the paperwork, the phone call or the final conversation suddenly makes us realise… “This really is over.” That can bring with it a genuine sense of grief. Its not the role she wished for - not exactly her dream job, so why is she so positive about this development? She has just finished the personal elevation event. This taught her to reflect on her current situation. She sees the role as an opportunity, a stepping stone to something bigger. We sometimes become so focused on the destination we overlook the opportunity right in front of us. Life doesn’t always take us along the road we planned. Here we discover Laila has gained her voice by surrendering to her situation. www.menthemusical.com contactus@menthemusical.com Produced by Paragon Creative Studios (https://open.acast.com/networks/6647634e56d2d80012f725da/shows/6a19ad7bf7ef7759587dfb82/episodes/www.paragoncreativestudios.co.uk) Hosted on Acast. What’s this episode about ? This podcast explores one of the most revealing scenes in Men? The Musical, the Personal Elevation event. We continue the story on from episode 10.Jennifer (our lead female character) along with friends Laila and Zahida have all arrived hoping, in one way or another, to discover something about themselves. They’ve reached a point where they know something in their life needs to change, but they don’t know how to change it. They’re feeling stuck in old patterns, old habits, old ways of thinking and they’re looking for a new perspective that can help them move forward. And perhaps many of them don’t yet realise that the greatest breakthrough won’t happen during one of the workshops. It will happen when they’re willing to look honestly at themselves with the new knowledge they will receive at this powerful personal elevation event. Pamela and Steven introduce a thought provoking song from MEN? The Musical called It’s Your Life. - It asks difficult questions - It challenges excuses - It asks us to stop looking outward at others and begin looking inward for answers. Personal elevation rarely begins with changing somebody else. It begins with changing ourselves. www.menthemusical.com contactus@menthemusical.com Produced by Paragon Creative Studios (www.paragoncreativestudios.co.uk) Hosted on Acast. Men? The Musical - Personal Elevation - The Story We Tell Ourselves - Episode 10 MEN? The Musical is MORE than entertainment — “it is a cultural conversation platform designed to inspire emotional connection, personal elevation, and mutual respect through storytelling, music, and healthy dialogue” Is this podcast series for me? Yes, if you are curious and share our values in: • Entertainment & Relationships — engagement, through music, storytelling, humour, dating culture, and emotional connection. • Personal Development/Elevation — helping explore emotional intelligence, communication, identity, healing, and self-awareness. • Equality & Respect — creating healthier conversations between women and men based on understanding, respect, and shared humanity. What’s this episode about ? This podcast explores one of the most revealing scenes in Men? The Musical—the Personal Elevation event. Jennifer (our lead female character), along with friends Laila and Zahida arrive at the venue expecting a ‘comfortable’ weekend of personal growth and self-discovery. Instead, Jennifer unexpectedly comes face to face with Matthew, someone she’d hoped never to see again. (remember the blind date chaos scene episode 6?) What follows is both funny and awkward, however, beneath the humour lies one of the biggest lessons in personal elevation - It often begins with ‘discomfort’. Pamela and Steven discuss how many things in life do we accept without ever questioning them because of discomfort or a fear of change? www.menthemusical.com contactus@menthemusical.com Produced by Paragon Creative Studios (https://open.acast.com/networks/6647634e56d2d80012f725da/shows/6a19ad7bf7ef7759587dfb82/episodes/www.paragoncreativestudios.co.uk) Hosted on Acast. MEN? The Musical - “Because We Have Always Done It That Way” - Episode 9
Podcast Episode 9. Series 1. Title: “Because we have always done it that way” MEN? The Musical is MORE than entertainment — “it is a cultural conversation platform designed to inspire emotional connection, personal elevation, and mutual respect through storytelling, music, and healthy dialogue” Is this podcast series for me? Yes, if you are curious and share our values in: • Entertainment & Relationships — engagement, through music, storytelling, humour, dating culture, and emotional connection. • Personal Development — helping explore emotional intelligence, communication, identity, healing, and self- awareness. • Equality & Respect — creating healthier conversations between women and men based on understanding, respect, and shared humanity. What’s this episode about ? Pamela and Steven discuss how many things in life do we accept without ever questioning them? Today’s podcast explores the only salsa class in history where a discussion about dance turns into a debate about culture, relationships, workplace dynamics, social expectations, and one very confused dance instructor! The scene is funny because Jennifer’s reaction is completely out of proportion to what’s actually happening. Carlos, the salsa instructor, simply explains that in salsa the man traditionally leads and the woman follows. So, Jennifer should simply let her dance partner Paddy lead. For Carlos, it’s just a dance. For Jennifer, it’s apparently a United Nations summit on gender politics. There is of course a serious point; why do we frequently accept an idea just because that’s the way its always been done ? Do we often resist change? Is that a good or bad thing? www.menthemusical.com contactus@menthemusical.com Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy (https://acast.com/privacy) for more information.

Her behaviour is serving a hidden emotional purpose. Her addiction to her relationship with James has now led to her behaviour spiral out of control. She has been out drinking and clubbing, not to celebrate, but numb rejection, avoid grief, escape loneliness, silence intrusive thoughts, feel temporarily desired Addiction often begins with emotional escape, not substance dependency.
