Mistresses of Mayhem: Resilient Riffs & Dirty Little Films
Buckle up, mayhem-makers. This week, the Mistresses of Mayhem are diving deep into the trenches of melodic metal, underground filth, and high-stakes controversy. We’re spinning the latest tracks from the frontlines and discussing the community events that matter.
We’re breaking down three powerhouse releases that range from heart-wrenching resilience to uncompromising social carnage:
Deep 6 – “2022”: Houston’s melodic metal heavyweights return with a track that balances raw muscle with soaring clean vocals. It’s a song about the grind, the growth, and the ghost of the past.
Reflection of Flesh – “Souls Reign Fire”: Straight from Milwaukee’s Harbor District, this trio delivers a masterclass in dark, infectious grooves. If you live for the melodic death metal sounds of At the Gates or In Flames, this relentless assault is your new anthem.
KÜNTSQUÄD – “Piss N Purge”: Explicit, confrontational, and utterly necessary. We peel back the layers of this censored track to discuss its sharp critique of disposable consumption and the "bigger machine" that feeds on human life.
Beyond the music, we’re covering the stories shaking the industry and the local community:
Resurgence & The Heart Transplant Fundraiser: A call to action for the metal family. We’ve got the details on the upcoming benefit show for the daughter of Resurgence’s lead singer. If you’re near Liquid Joes on August 5th, find out how you can support this vital cause alongside ViciouS SoulS and Death Persona.
The Static-X Documentary Drama: Things Are Getting Messy. We discuss Matt Zane’s defiant defense of his unauthorized Wayne Static and Tera Wray documentary in the face of a cease-and-desist order from the band’s estate.
HUMP! Film Festival: Sapphire heads to Missoula to review the latest curated lineup of DIY erotic shorts. Does the "World's Best Dirty Little Film Fest" live up to the hype?
"It is aggressive when it needs to be and melodic where it counts."
Tune in for the chaos, stay for the community. Mistresses of Mayhem is available now on all your favorite streaming platforms.

The Mistresses of Mayhem
Grab your tequila and whiskey, and crank the volume—the Mistresses of Mayhem are back to dissect the shifting landscape of the Treasure State's heavy music scene. In this episode, we’re navigating the "changing of the guard" as legendary Montana acts call it quits while powerhouse new projects rise from the ashes.
Helena’s New Punk Spirit: We dive into Counter Intent, the fresh, "fun side of rock ‘n’ roll" project from Shelby Bean. Hear about his transition from AP’s hibernation to this high-energy winter creation and how you can get involved in his first music video.
The Rebirth of Ceres: We have a "Wilson Phillips moment of silence" for the end of Ceres, only to celebrate their resurrection as Drown the Sky. We break down this new metalcore collective featuring Missoula veterans.
Tour Alerts & Local Noise: Everything you need to know about the upcoming Static-X, Dope, and Render Me Silent show at The Pub Station. Plus, we check in on Hibernator’s latest TikTok teasers and new music drops.

New Year, New Mayhem: Resolutions & Rituals
Buckle up, metalheads! We’re kicking off 2026 with a lethal dose of tequila, whiskey, and the heaviest tracks hitting the scene. In this episode, we’re diving deep into the "frozen prairie" deathcore of Canada’s From Beneath, the haunting melodies of Missouri’s Generation Z, and the anthemic fury of Texas warriors Lockjaw.
But it’s not just about the music—it’s about the chaos. We’re laying out our (highly questionable) New Year’s Resolutions, ranging from "Circle Pits of Politeness" to "Taco Bell soul-searching." Whether we're haunting the aisles of Hot Topic or letting crowd-surfers hit the floor "Drowning Pool style," we’re bringing the energy you need to survive the mosh pit.
🤘 The Playlist:
From Beneath – Misbegotten (Brutal Deathcore from the Canadian prairies)
Generation Z – Something Wicked (Female-fronted intensity from Springfield, MO)
Lockjaw – We Won’t Back Down (A fist-raising anthem against corruption)
Epic Death – Poison (A grand, brutal Alice Cooper cover from Houston, TX)
End Ever – Ol' 13 (Soberphobic)
🔥 In This Episode:
Music Reviews: First impressions of the Diatribe demo and upcoming 2026 releases.
The Resolution Segment: Is not to get mad every time I see a metal band I like being sold at Hot Topic
Tour Talk: Upcoming shows and the concerts we’re dying to hit.
The Bar: Powered by Hornitos Tequila, Crown Royal, and White Claw (and maybe a drop of water... maybe).
