The Kingdom Family Podcast is a place where we explore identity, restoration, and the life of the Kingdom of God.
Hosted by Chris Cobler, this podcast helps people rediscover who they truly are — sons and daughters of Yahweh — and learn to live from the freedom and fullness of that reality.
Through conversations, teachings, and reflections, we unpack themes like identity in Christ, family, spiritual growth, and the restoration of humanity through the finished work of Jesus.
Because the Gospel is not about joining a religion — it’s about coming home to the family of God.
Where Did Our Modern View of Hell Come From? | Rethinking Hell, Week 7
Many Christians assume their understanding of hell came directly from the Bible—but history reveals a far more complicated story.
In Week 7 of Rethinking Hell, we trace the ideas, language, and cultural influences that helped shape the modern Christian imagination of hell. We examine what Moses taught about Sheol, what Jesus meant by Gehenna, Hades, outer darkness, weeping and gnashing of teeth, and the furnace of fire—and why none of these terms should automatically be defined as eternal conscious torment.
We also explore the influence of Greek philosophy, the differences between the Hebrew hope of resurrection and the Greek concept of an immortal soul, and the diverse beliefs found among the early Church Fathers. Finally, we consider how Augustine, Dante’s Inferno, John Calvin, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Finney, and modern evangelical preaching contributed to the picture of hell many people inherited.
The goal is not to attack tradition or dismiss history. It is to carefully separate Scripture from later interpretation so we can return to the biblical text with fresh eyes—and read it through the lens of Jesus Christ.
How much of what we believe about hell came from the Bible, and how much came from someone else’s imagination?

The Lake of Fire: The Final Defeat of Death | Rethinking Hell, Week 6
What if the Lake of Fire is not the triumph of God’s wrath against humanity, but the final defeat of everything that destroys humanity?
In Week 6 of Rethinking Hell, we examine Revelation’s symbolic language and take a closer look at the moment when death and Hades are thrown into the Lake of Fire. Death and Hades are not people—they are enemies and forces that Christ came to overthrow.
Through Revelation 20–21, Isaiah 25, 1 Corinthians 15, and Hebrews 2, we explore the Lake of Fire as an image of divine judgment, the destruction of death, and the victory of Christ. What follows the fire is not endless chaos or eternal torment, but new creation, renewal, and the declaration that God is making all things new.
The fire is not the end of the story. Restoration is.
Death does not win. Hell does not win. Christ does.

Judgment: Punishment or Restoration? | Rethinking Hell, Week 5
When you hear the word “judgment,” do you picture the anger of an offended God—or the restoring work of a loving Father?
In Part 5 of our Rethinking Hell series, we examine the Greek word krisis and discover that biblical judgment involves decision, evaluation, discernment, and the unveiling of truth. In John 3, judgment is pictured as Light entering the darkness and exposing what has been hidden—not God losing control or seeking revenge.
We’ll explore the difference between punishment and loving discipline, the Father’s heart revealed in the story of the prodigal son, and the refining purpose of judgment throughout Scripture. God does not ignore pride, violence, corruption, or injustice. He confronts and removes everything that prevents His creation from reflecting its true identity.
What if judgment is not God turning against humanity, but God turning humanity back toward life? What if judgment is not something to fear, but something we can trust?
Judgment is not the rage of an angry God. It is the restoring love of a faithful Father.
