डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर (1891-1956) पूर्ण नाव भीमराव रामजी आंबेडकर. स्वतंत्र भारताच्या पहिल्या मंत्रिमंडळात कायदेमंत्री आणि भारतीय घटनेचे शिल्पकार, दलितांमध्ये स्वत्वाची जाणीव निर्माण करणारे क्रांतिकारक महापुरुष, आयुष्यभर ज्ञानसाधना करून कायदेशास्त्र, अर्थशास्त्र, समाजशास्त्र इ. ज्ञान शाखांवर प्रभुत्व मिळविले. दलितांच्या उन्नतीसाठी त्यांनी आपले जीवन समर्पित केले. भारत सरकारने त्यांना ‘भारतरत्न’ या पुरस्काराने सन्मानित केले. ‘मूकनायक’, ‘जनता’ या नियतकालिकांचे ते संस्थापक होते. तसेच ‘हू वेअर दि शूद्राज?’, ‘थॉटस ऑफ पाकिस्तान’, ‘बुद्ध अॅण्ड हिज धम्म’ हे ग्रंथ त्यांनी लिहिले.

क्रांती व प्रतिक्रांती
प्राचीन भारताच्या क्रांती व प्रतिक्रांती हा डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर यांनी लिहिलेले ऐतिहासिक पुस्तक आहे. पुस्तकाचे संपूर्ण लिखाण करण्यापूर्वीच बाबासाहेबांचे महापरिनिर्वाण झाले त्यामुळे हे पुस्तक अपूर्ण राहिलेले आहे. या पुस्तकाचा डॉ. आंबेडकरांनी आराखडा तयार केला होता तेव्हा त्यामध्ये ४१ प्रकरणे राहणार होती. त्यापैकी १३ प्रकरणे महाराष्ट्र शासन प्रकाशित डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर: लेखन आणि भाषणेच्या तिसऱ्या खंडात १९८७ साली पहिल्यांदा प्रसिद्ध झाली आहेत.

पुणे करार हा महात्मा गांधी आणि डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर या राजकीय नेत्यांमध्ये २४ सप्टेंबर इ.स. १९३२ रोजी झाला. दलितांना स्वतंत्र मतदारसंघाऐवजी सर्व प्रांतांमध्ये सर्वसाधारण मतदारसंघात लोकसंख्येच्या प्रमाणात जागा द्याव्यात हा त्याचा मुख्य मुद्दा होता. त्यावर डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर, पंडित मदनमोहन मालवीय, मुकुंद रामरा व जयकर, सी. राजगोपालाचारी आदींच्या सह्या आहेत. हा करार "आंबेडकर-गांधी करार", "गांधी-आंबेडकर करार", "ऐरवडा करार" या नावांनीही ओळखला जातो
