[…] Still, I don't expect this issue to go away anytime soon. Guess is expensive and there's an election about a month away. If lawmakers did make such a move, though, it would create a precedent for action anytime costs are high, which could be a problem for future governors and legislatures. Alethea, it was a really interesting contrast this week. Ohio Republicans prodded by their gubernatorial candidate moved quickly to suspend their fuel tax as fears among that state's Republicans mount about a Democrat winning the governor's office there, something that hasn't happened in 20 years. Curiously, John James back here in the great state of Michigan focused his attention on Democrats this week, but there was no indication he asked his fellow Republicans who control the Michigan House to move, unlike what happened in Ohio.
