Welcome to "Midlife Woman", a podcast for women who are transforming - physically, emotionally and spiritually. We talk about this very normal process in every woman's life. We share stories, we hear from experts who give information about hormones, genitourinary symptoms, pelvic floor issues, the often strange and confusing symptoms of perimenopause, sleep issues, memory, sex, passion, sensuality, relationships and what that "second spring" has in stock for you as you travel on your soul's journey. Host Karin Elias wants to empower women to celebrate this important transition . It's not a disease! It's not a secret! There's no shame being in menopause. Women give birth to the whole world, and when they are finished with that stage of their life, they can become joyful, sensual and wise guides to their peers and to younger generations.

To Be or Not to Be - a Silver Sister
Meet Ilise Harris (https://www.iliseharris.com/). Ilise has been a freelance make up artist for over 40 years. She worked on countless American and European fashion and beauty magazines, advertising campaigns and album covers. She travelled to far flung locations and met fascinating people. Liza Minelli, Madonna, Lisa Marie Presley, Kathleen Battle, Anna winter, Mia Farrow - those are some celebrities Ilise enjoyed working with. She also studied mobile photography and now she became a film maker. Embracing her own silver curls enabled her to connect to women on the street, in Facebook groups locally and internationally. She decided to make a film about women who stop coloring their hair and embrace their natural grey and silver. This is often not an easy decision for women. Many experience judgement - from their own mindset and from people close to them. Even strangers feel they can have an opinion how women's hair should be. In our conversation we also talk about the journey women experience when they move through perimenopause into their wise woman years. What role does hair color play? What else are women challenging when their hormones are changing? What are the gifts on the other side of menopause? Ilise shares her own journey and what she learned from the women in the movie. The movie was shown at the Yonkers film festival to a full house. If you missed it, don't despair. You can still watch it here: Your Roots are Showing (https://tinyurl.com/5n96kxjs). Perimenopause is such a challenging time for women. So many things are changing in our bodies. Some changes are more internal, you don't see them but you do feel them! Others are there for everyone to see - like changes to our skin. Ann talks about the challenges she had and the frustration she experienced when she couldn't find relief from already existing products. The creative and entrepreneurial soul she is - she founded a company and created natural, gentle products that are dermatologist tested, non irritant, safe for all skin types and the environment. And they smell amazing!!! Ann's products are available from her website and she has a special offer for listeners of this podcast: a special 10% discount until November 30th, 2024 and a free gift. Trailer: Midlife Woman
Have you ever walked into a room only to stand there not knowing what you wanted? I have! I also frequently wake up at night, around 3 am with all kinds of thoughts going through my mind. Sometimes my hands and feet feel numb. I have sensitivities to food that suddenly appeared. Describing these symptoms to my medical doctors sent me on a crazy journey of tests, wrong diagnosis and anxiety. I was confused and felt abandoned. Years later I connected the dots - I was in perimenopause. I'm making this podcast for you - a woman in midlife going through hormonal changes. I share my story and the story of women who are on this journey. I talk with experts who support women on this journey. It's time we talked about Menopause and got more information and support. This is not a disease, nothing to be ashamed of. Every woman will go through it. It's an exciting, though often chaotic transition. On the other side is a confident, sensual woman who knows what she wants and what she won't put up with any longer. Music "The Best Jazz club in New Orleans" by Paolo Argento.
