The most common warning against social media usage is comparison: the conscious and unconscious evaluation of our lives against others. We become discontent when we think someone is doing better. We take comfort when we think we’re better off than someone else. How often we comfort ourselves comparatively, our ego insisting we are better than ‘them’ (whoever ‘them’ might be). But the way of the saints is clear-eyed honesty. Nakedness before God about our brokenness, our sin, and our need for grace. And in this humble surrender we discover God’s abundant grace.

Everyday Saints — 1 Corinthians 1:1-3
