The Banned Book That Every Pastor Needs to Read with Jeffrey Perry
In the 1700s, the Church of Scotland told its clergy not to recommend a certain book that was making the rounds — the reason being it was offering Christ to sinners indiscriminately, with no fine print. Listen along as Jeffrey Perry from the Marrowcast joins the show to talk about the ongoing legacy of The Marrow of Modern Divinity, the law-gospel distinction, and the Pharisee that lurks in us all.
Jeffrey lives in North Carolina with his wife Lindsay and their four children, where he serves as pastor of Gospelway Baptist Church (https://www.gospelway.church/) in China Grove. He co-hosts the Marrowcast (https://www.marrowcast.com/) with John Meeks, where you can also find his sermons and writing. You can follow him on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/jeffrey.perry.505) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/jeffreyperry2009/).

Fear Not: When God’s Command Is Actually a Promise with Luke Kjolhaug
What if the most prevalent two words in Scripture — “fear not” — aren’t a command to try harder, but a promise to hold onto? This is the question Luke Kjolhaug and I aim to answer in this edition of the Ministry Minded Podcast, where we talk about Luke’s new book, Fear Not, and how the gospel of Christ for you speaks grace and life and hope in the middle of our most fearful moments.
Luke is the pastor of Elim Lutheran Church (http://www.osakiselimchurch.com/) in Osakis, Minnesota, where he lives with his wife, Bethannie, and their two daughters. He holds degrees from Wheaton College and Lutheran Brethren Seminary. You can connect with him on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/luke.kjolhaug) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/lukekjolhaug/).

Christ for You and Why the Gospel Must Stay the Gospel with Justin Perdue
What if our efforts to better Christians are actually taking our eyes off Christ? In this edition of Ministry Minded, I sit down with Justin Perdue to talk about just that, as well as how the Bible’s message of “Christ for you” is understood through the law-gospel distinction and why that distinction is so important for pastoral ministry and the life of the church. Despite what you might hear or think, the church doesn’t need a new message for each new cultural moment. We just need the gospel that tells us Christ is enough.
Justin lives in Asheville, North Carolina, with his wife Michelle and their four children, where he serves as the lead pastor has served as lead pastor of Covenant Baptist Church (https://covbap.org/) since it was constituted in 2015. You can follow him on Twitter/X (https://x.com/justin_perdue) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/justin_perdue/), and on his website tethered.org (http://tethered.org).
