S3E18: One, one plus one, etc. (Yoma 5:3-4)
Today’s episode sees the Kohen Gadol complete the blood service for the ox, then take the designated he-goat and slaughter it. He then sprinkles the blood of the he-goat inside the Holy of Holies and in turn sprinkles the blood of both animals on the Parochet curtain from the outside. That’s a total of four sprinklings, and the mishna repeats a lot of sentences verbatim here in these two mishnas. We talk a bit about how to handle mishnas with a lot of repetition. You can find these mishnas here. Today’s episode is dedicated to the memory of William Shakin, z”l, a lone soldier in the 13th battalion of the Golani Brigade. You can read a bit about him here or watch his funeral service here. His neshama should have an aliyah and his family should find comfort.
