[…] It's really more of an emotional appeal. Is it or was it the first English translation? Is the historicity of it something that people can use to try and argue that it was inspired in some way? Well, no, it wasn't the first English translation. There were English translations before that. The English translation from the original languages starts with... a figure named Tyndale, that's T-Y-N-D-A-L-E, who got in big trouble. Because throughout the Middle Ages, people were not allowed to read the Bible on their own. It was only with the development of the Lutheran tradition, the Protestant tradition under Luther, that people were being encouraged to actually read the Bible instead of hearing priests read it and authorities interpret it.
