My mission is to help people break free from the past and start living life on their terms. I’ve spent years overcoming challenges, and now I use my experience to support others on their journeys. Here’s a quick snapshot of my life and what led me to where I am today: - October 1963: Doug Dane was born to a woman who had already abandoned three children to the child welfare system. - April 1964: He was adopted into an abusive environment by a couple approved by the Children’s Aid Society. Both of his adoptive parents were alcoholics. -Before age 13: Doug's father would often physically abuse Doug's mother in front of Doug and his brother. Doug's father would also bring girlfriends to the house while Doug’s mother was still living there, and he would take the boys on day trips and vacations with his girlfriend - Age 13: Doug called the police on his mother for beating his father; the police removed Doug’s mother from the house. Doug’s father quit drinking at that time. - Between ages 13-15: Doug was sexually abused by a ring of pedophiles - Age 15: Doug was kidnapped; this experience led to the exposure of the pedophile ring, and the abusers were charged and sentenced to jail time. - Age 23: Doug began a career in business. - Age 25: Doug began learning about the conscious and unconscious mind. - Before age 40: Doug had several unsuccessful marriages and relationships. - Age 40 (approximately): Doug began therapy and was able to recover memories from his childhood. - April 6, 2002: Doug’s story was published as an article titled “Dark Past Bright Future” in the Toronto Star. He also appeared on Canada AM and an Ontario television show to discuss his experience. - After 2002: A 13-year-old boy who read Doug’s article in the Waterloo Record reached out to Doug; the boy had also been abused by one of Doug's abusers. Doug began working as a mentor and coach, helping other people through similar experiences. - 2014: Doug began studying with Bob Proctor, who became his mentor and friend Today: Doug Dane published his book Mistaken Identity. He is now an international keynote speaker, mentor, and survivor. He continues to run his business, which focuses on helping people overcome their adverse childhood experiences and live more fulfilling lives through his book, courses, and coaching. If you’re ready to take control of your story, you’re in the right place. Let’s make this journey together. Remember, breaking free from your past is possible—and it’s worth it.</p>
