   REI(G)N

It’s 2 am. The middle of February. In the city you call home. The warehouse temperature rises as bodies pack the floor, seeking relief from the noise of the outside world. Red and blue lights blend together to form a beautiful yet hauntingly familiar combination. The rhythm of your heart climbs to 128 beats per minute. As the music begins to drown your thoughts, a single question cuts through the air. This is not an escape. It’s an acknowledgment. To tell you the truth, we can’t dance our way around reality; we gotta dance through it. Black queer pioneers in the underground music scenes of Detroit and Chicago filled spaces with sounds of confrontation and freedom. House and Techno were birthed to serve as an unapologetic symbol of defiance and revolution through innovation and joy. This is a tribute to the originators. A blend of two cities. Two sounds. One lineage. This is Tech House - mixed through my lens. We start our journey on the first day of the Year of the Fire Horse. That question? Now it’s accompanied by a declaration - delivered by two familiar voices. Then the flame is ignited, quickly and bluntly. There’s a rapid urgency; a horse racing through a fire. It builds toward a climax that earns the deep, soft, sensual valley that follows. But softness can be an illusion. The heat beneath it erupts in truth like a volcano. Stick to the path. Tighten the reins. Embrace the eruption. Feel the release. This is for all of us. A cathartic acknowledgement of our collective experience, meant to help us rise to meet the future we were promised. A future we refuse to surrender for temporary escape. It’s our time. Press play. Don’t look back. Today is my 35th birthday 🎈 Over the past few years I’ve been able to reconnect with past versions of myself and make peace with my own personal journey. The ups. The downs. The lows. The highs. It can be confusing, frustrating, and humbling; but also exciting, beautiful, and empowering. Music has become my primary source of expression, and to say I’m grateful would feel like an understatement. I’ve always viewed gospel music as the most prolific genre of music to tell stories that encourage those listening to push through their own obstacles and embrace every part of their circumstances. The harmonies, the intricacies, the soul, the freedom - all helping you to move through your feelings and release them. As I began my 35th chapter, I decided to create my own form of gospel in hopes of connecting deeper with myself + others. The result is an hour-long anthemic celebration of how far I’ve come, a sonically emotional rebirth in the midst of chaos, and a love letter to my own remarkable frequency; woven with sounds of gospel and house that encourage you to move your body and feel deeply. As you listen, I truly hope you’re able to feel and spread the good word—love, embrace, and own every bit of your unique and beautiful story as the world continues to try to write it for you. Welcome to my Sunday service! This is my testimony. 🪩 -- Track Listing :: We Rise (Victor Simonelli Mix) // Ann Nesby :: Rush (Extended Mix) // Martin Ikin, Hayley May :: Shout It Back (Extended) // Alex Mills, GotSome :: My Joy (Extended Mix) // Tim Engelhardt :: Blessed Generation (Extended) // Coco & Breezy, Kinder :: Smalltown Boy (Original Mix) // AZETE :: Wish I Didn’t Miss You (Atom 36 Remix) // Angie Stone, Atom 36 :: Kiki (Extended Mix) // Crusy :: Ride or Die (Extended) // Aluna :: heaven in your arms (Original Mix) // Jessie Ware, salute :: lift off! for thomas // love is a drug

Sexy. Romantic. Groovy. What are the top five songs you would use to describe the perfect night out? As inspiration for a special birthday set, my bestie answered this prompt by sending me a list of tracks (+2 extra) that included the sexy and sultry percussion of Wild Thoughts (DJ Khaled) and HEATED (Beyoncé), the soft romantic nostalgia immediately triggered by Sittin’ Up in My Room (Brandy), and the dreamy grooviness infused throughout Douha (Disclosure) and Duke Dumont’s remix of Falling (HAIM). I explored and crafted a set around these themes through my own lens, naturally gravitating towards tech house and modern disco. The result was something that truly feels unique, timeless, and like one fucking incredible night at the discotheque. — Initial Inspo Tracks :: Douha (Mali Mali) // Disclosure, Fatoumata Diawara :: Wild Thoughts (feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller) // DJ Khaled :: Sittin' Up In My Room // Brandy :: Falling (Duke Dumont Remix) // HAIM, Duke Dumont :: American Boy // Estelle, Kanye West :: What's My Name? // Rihanna, Drake :: HEATED // Beyoncé — Final Track Listing :: Take The Pressure // Leroy, KLP, OFFAIAH :: Sing It Back // Moreno Pezzolato :: Costa // SG Lewis, Chloé Caillet :: NA$TY // Stacey Pullen :: I Can't Go For That // Mark Knight, Gene Farris :: You've Done Enough (John Summit Extended Mix) // Drama, Gorgon City, John Summit :: Promises (VIP) // Logic1000, Rochelle Jordan :: Creep (Lauren Lane Remix) // TLC, Lauren Lane :: This Feeling (Low Steppa Remix) // Roger Sanchez, Julie McKnight, Park & Sons, Low Steppa :: Teka Teka // Ky William :: 4U // Martin Ikin, Matroda, Sian-Lee :: You Can't Be Around // Danny Coleman, Milton Shadow :: Douha (Mali Mali) // Disclosure, Fatoumata Diawara :: Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) (Riva Starr Skylight Hard Dub) // DJ Spiller, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Riva Starr :: Edge Of Seventeen // Sawyer, Gabriel Dancer :: Serotonine // Discip :: Need // Alex Mills, Danny Howard, Illyus & Barrientos :: Be Right There (MK Remix) // Diplo, Sleepy Tom, MK
