The solution to housing unaffordability is getting a vasectomy
I am multimillionaire now and most of that wealth did not come from property. Rather, most of it came from crypto and stocks. This shows that buying property is not necessary to build wealth. I fact, you don't need to buy property at all. However, everyone needs a place to live, and with the rise in property prices and rents all over the developed world, many young people are finding they are being priced out. You cannot rely on politics to solve this problem simply because most voters want rising house prices due to greed. Politicians in democracies do not want to be voted out at the next election, so they will implement and maintain policies that give voters what they want, which is rising house prices. People are greedy and don't care about others, so we need to take matters into our own hands. We need to stop looking at politics to solve this problem and focus on individual personal action. Put simply, the best way we can respond to housing unaffordability is to get a vasectomy (or tubal ligation if you're a woman). I got a vasectomy about ten days ago. Getting a vasectomy is the first step towards addressing this problem. You should also try to live with your parents or, if that's not possible, live with housemates. Then we need to invest in investment that will provide returns that are higher than what would be provided in property. Elon Musk is a renter. He is the richest man in the world right now with a net worth approaching US$300 billion. He rents a place close to his work. Arguably this is better than buying the property because he can expose more of his capital to Tesla and SpaceX shares, which have performed very well. If you want to combat housing unaffordability, having kids is a major problem. Having more kids means you need more space to live, which means you have to pay more. Furthermore, having kids means you cannot move easily to where housing is most affordable. Combating housing unaffordability requires embracing mobility and minimalism. If you don't own too much, moving is easy, and if moving is easy, you are not beholden to the demands of any one landlord. As they say, your greatest power is your ability to walk away.
