In this episode, I slow things down and explore Christmas through the eyes of a child. Through a sweet, honest conversation with a six-year-old, I’m reminded that the magic of the holidays isn’t in perfection or presents, but in connection, imagination, and simple traditions. This episode is a gentle invitation to see the season with wonder again, cherish togetherness, and remember that the heart of Christmas lives in the small, joyful moments we share with our kids. Campbell is a joy to list...

12. Childhood Trauma and a Link to Adulthood PTSD Part 2
In part two of our conversation on childhood trauma and its link to adulthood PTSD, I dive deeper into how early experiences shape our nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. I share what ACEs are, how trauma can show up later in life, and why recognizing these patterns isn’t about blame—but compassion and healing. This episode is about naming what hurt, setting healthy boundaries, seeking support, and reminding ourselves that we are no longer surviving—we’re allowed to heal. Email ...

Episode 11. Childhood Trauma and Adulthood PTSD Part 1
Part 1. In this episode, we'll talk about how trauma is completely personal and no one has the right to minimize your experience by comparing it to theirs. Your feelings are valid, and even small events can be life-changing depending on your history and triggers. I explain how chronic stress in childhood can reshape the brain, leading to anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and trauma responses like intrusive memories, fear, avoidance, and sudden emotional reactions you can’t always explain. 10. Purging of Things
This episode explores the transformative power of decluttering in creating a calm, comforting home environment. Speaking from the perspective of a sophisticated country mama, it highlights practical, down-to-earth strategies for purging excess belongings — from stopping the habit of buying extra storage bins, to decluttering one space at a time, using the two-week “forget-it” box, letting go of outdated medications, digitizing kids’ artwork, and eliminating true garbage (and the “should-be” g...

From peekaboo games and banana phones to those teenage “I know better” moments, we’ll look at the four stages of learning and what they mean for our children — and for us as parents, educators, and lifelong learners. Let’s rediscover h...

7. When our little people get hurt
Hey friends, this week’s episode didn’t go quite as planned — and honestly, that’s kind of the point. I was all set to dive into Jean Piaget and child development, but life had other ideas when my youngest turned six, rolled her ankle, and sent us on an unexpected adventure through hospital hallways and X-rays. Instead of shelving the episode completely, I decided to lean into what motherhood really teaches us: how to bend when things don’t go as planned. From shifting gears midweek to comfor...

6. Kids and Money
This week’s episode was inspired by my ten-year-old daughter, who suggested I talk about kids and money—when to say no, how to teach value, and why happiness can’t be bought. I share real-life tips for setting boundaries, helping kids understand needs vs. wants, and finding joy in connection instead of consumption. From money jars to replacing “treats” with shared experiences, this episode is all about raising mindful spenders who know that value comes from gratitude, effort, and love—not stu...
