Episode 311: New Louisiana Hayride for New Era: Meta, SpaceX, EFFECT CO. & More
SpaceX takes up position front and center nearly by default; their announcement alongside the State of Louisiana will find them breaking ground on "Starbase, LA" -- a roughly 130,000-acre tract of land along the coastline of the Bayou State. While few outside of the state have heard of Vermillion Parish (much less Pecan Island), it's on the proverbial map now.On the other side of the state, you may recall that Meta selected Holly Ridge, Louisiana (to the northernmost areas on the map) as the site of its $10-50 billion "Hyperion" data center complex. In a jarring shift of gears, Crazy Eddie & his co-host discuss several topics with regard to Health & Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.; aside from the long-term efficacy and potential implications of his "Living Diet" (meat and fermented foods, it appears), a largely forgotten trip to Samoa in 2019 has re-appeared in the Nation's consciousness because the journey RFK, Jr. made while employed by the Children's Defense Fund may have centered around vaccines after all. Why does this detail matter now (or ever)? Because during his confirmation hearings before the U.S. Congress, Mr. Kennedy denied that vaccines were at the center of his journey to the obscure locale in at least three separate exchanges with Senators on the Committee; the uncovered correspondence shows the word "vaccine" coming up more than half a dozen times. In concluding the discussion of Mr. Kennedy's suggested diet and possibly misleading statements to Congress, the co-hosts acknowledged that the man has endured significant trauma. It's easy to chuckle when hearing Mr. Kennedy condemn taking prescribed amphetamines (Adderall, Vyvanse, etc.) to treat ADHD after saying that when he started taking heroin (you read correctly: heroin) "...I went to the top of my class because...my mind was so restless and turbulent and I could not sit still." In less noble headlines, the Brothers Tate (39-year-old Andrew & Tristan, 38) appear set to continue their latest residency: the jailhouse. While they await facing charges in one of the United States, the United Kingdom and Romania, they are indeed entitled to the presumption of innocence. They've yet to be tried by a judge and/or jury of their peers, but the self-proclaimed "Misogynists" have long deliberately embraced the darkest aspects of the so-called "Manosphere". Embracing statements akin to so-called influencer Nick Fuentes' "Your Body, My Choice" begs the question: is it such a leap to assume the Tate brothers are not above s**ual assault? Your co-hosts then end on a positive note by discussing the ascent and inspiring aspirations of allied Firm EFFECT CO. Founded by their friend (and DeViney's former colleague) Mariel Campbell, EFFECT CO. is a platform that cedes the "attention economy"-space to the plethora of entities competing for clicks, likes and the latest trends that are so ubiquitous and exploitative of the moment they can hardly be labeled "flavors of the month" -- i.e., they don't even last that long. The entire point is that when catastrophes strike, the true needs of the masses and genuine cries for help and resources cannot be heard amidst the sea of slop. EFFECT CO. aims to fix just that by way of a digital, always-on platform that not only allows those in need to post about what has occurred but to be immediately directed to the resources available while simultaneously alerting the applicable authorities to the emerging crises.Between Meta's Hyperion, SpaceX's Starbase, LA & EFFECT CO., a new era sees a new Louisiana Hayride emerging to herald, perhaps, a new dawn for the State of Louisiana. As always, thank you for letting us continue to be a part of your lives, and we look forward to reconvening again soon!
