About Mohamed Magid
Mohamed Magid is a prominent American Muslim scholar, religious leader, and community activist. He was born in Sudan and moved to the United States in 1987. He is the Executive Imam of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center in Sterling, Virginia, one of the largest Muslim communities in the United States. Magid’s education in Islamic studies began at an early age in Sudan, where he studied under his father and other prominent scholars. He later continued his studies in the United States, where he has become a well-respected religious authority. He has been actively involved in interfaith dialogue, community service, and advocating for social justice. Imam Magid served as the President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) from 2010 to 2014. During his tenure, he worked on numerous initiatives to promote understanding and cooperation between different faith communities. He has also been involved in various national and international efforts to address issues such as countering extremism, promoting peace, and supporting humanitarian causes. Magid is a strong advocate for civil rights and has worked closely with various organizations, including the United States government, on issues related to religious freedom and counterterrorism. He has been a member of the Department of Homeland Security’s Faith-Based Advisory Council and has served on the FBI’s Muslim, Sikh, and Arab Advisory Committee. In addition to his leadership roles, Imam Magid is a sought-after speaker and has lectured at numerous universities, conferences, and interfaith gatherings around the world. He has also been involved in various media initiatives to promote a better understanding of Islam and to counter negative stereotypes about Muslims. Imam Magid’s work has earned him recognition and awards from various organizations, including the Washingtonian Magazine, which named him one of the 100 Most Influential People in Washington, D.C. His efforts to build bridges between communities and his dedication to serving others have made him a respected and influential figure in the American Muslim community and beyond.
