Prince Albert II addressed the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg on 1 October, reaffirming Monaco’s commitment to human rights, democracy and the rule of law. The speech marked a key moment in the Principality’s first presidency of the Committee of Ministers, with the Sovereign calling for closer cooperation to help shape Europe’s future.
Monaco also welcomed its 10,000th Monegasque citizen. Baby Anna, born on 15 June, was honoured at Monaco Town Hall on 1 October, with Prince Albert II, Princess Charlène, the Mayor and elected officials in attendance.
History was made on 2 and 3 October as Italian President Sergio Mattarella made the first official state visit by a President of the Italian Republic to Monaco. Accompanied by his daughter Laura Mattarella, he was received at the Prince’s Palace by the Princely Family, underlining the long relationship between the two neighbours.
Sports medicine was centre stage at the Yacht Club de Monaco on 2 October, as more than 150 specialists met for the 13th Sport Doctor Network conference. Doctors, surgeons, trainers and rehabilitation experts shared approaches to athlete health and high performance drawn from leading international sports bodies.
For the 31st European Heritage Days on 3 and 4 October, Monaco opened 48 sites, including the Minister of State’s residence, the National Council, the Monte-Carlo Casino and the Princess Grace Theatre, with guided tours of their history and architecture.
The Principality turned pink for Pink October on 3 and 4 October, raising awareness of breast cancer and supporting research. Princess Charlène, honorary president of Pink Ribbon Monaco, joined the illumination of Casino Square and the Prince’s Palace. The association also held its first charity golf tournament at Royal Mougins Golf Club.
On 5 October the Monaco Economic Board became the Monaco Chamber of Commerce after a vote by its members. The change follows the creation of Invest Monaco, which focuses on attracting new investment, and clarifies the division of roles.
On 7 October Prince Albert II attended the Med 9 summit in Split, Croatia, as guest of honour. With Mediterranean leaders discussing security, migration, energy and climate, he called for stronger regional action to protect the Mediterranean Sea, stressing scientific research, collective commitment and financing.
The same day, Monaco’s rugby sevens team qualified for the European Games in Istanbul next June. Princess Charlène, president of the Monaco Rugby Federation, announced the news to the players. After European Championship success in 2025 and gold at the Games of the Small States of Europe, Monaco is among Europe’s top 16 nations in the sport.
From 7 to 10 October the Grimaldi Forum hosted Les Assises de la Cybersécurité. The international conference brought businesses, institutions and specialists together on digital threats, with artificial intelligence a major theme amid concern over AI-driven cyberattacks.
