Let's Talk About Money Kara Chomistek

This episode dedicated to "She Works Hard For the Money" by Donna Summer and my one person dance party... Before going into university all of our teachers told us how we were all going to be graduating with amazing, high paying jobs and offers rolling in left right and centre, then the crash of 2008 happened and when I was graduating, in 2009, nobody was getting hired. The job market was more competitive then ever and starting salaries were laughable. It was not a good time to be entering the North American work force by any stretch of the imagination, and I was quickly turned off from the whole experience. I remember that time well as I will remember 2020 as a defining moment in history, but this time around I have something I didn’t have then > perspective. Perspective to know that, this too shall pass, the knowledge of what I am good at and how to protect myself in the future, and when this happens again, as it inevitably will, I will be even more prepared. I hope to share some of this perspective with you right now and gain even more myself through talking to smart people who don’t let a crisis define their future. I chat with Kara Chomistek about how learning from past failures prepared her for contingency planning, importance of staff retention, money market indexes, investing in yourself and the importance of listening to your parents :P

Sitting down and chatting to a mentor and friend, @SonjaRasula about what it's like to be an events business in LA right now, the importance of stripping your expenses to the bare bones in a time of an economic turndown, redirecting your efforts into alternate revenue streams and why small business owners are already amazingly equipped for adapting to big changes. Comment below the slogan hanging above Sonja's head! How perfectly relevant is the sign she had made for her wedding?!!!! WATCH on IG at @aniab
