Episode 9: A Late Night Phone Call ☎️🌙
For episode 9, we’re doing things a little differently with our first-ever phone call episode!
This time, we’re chatting about the realities of raising children, the challenges of raising a little boy, and just how important positive male role models can be. We look back at the men Dad looked up to growing up, and ask whether he sees himself as a role model to anyone today.
Then, as always, the conversation takes a turn into everyday family life — from wondering whether it’s finally time to dust off the slow cooker to the absolute battle of getting children dressed when they decide there’s only ONE outfit they’ll ever wear again! 😂
A little bit of parenting, a little bit of nostalgia, a few everyday struggles, and one late-night conversation between two generations.
Pop the kettle on and join us for another episode of Monkey & Me. 💛

Episode Eight: Ouija Boards & Other Uncomfortable Conversations
Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. (https://rss.com/podcasts/monkey-me/voicemail)
In this episode of Monkey & Me, we go from childhood fears and unexplained experiences to anxiety, health, and the many versions of ourselves we become throughout life.
We revisit my childhood night terrors, although I’m still not entirely convinced they were just night terrors, including some very real feeling memories of clothes filling out and chasing me into my parents’ bedroom. Naturally, we end up talking about Ouija boards and the things we can’t explain.
We also explore how anxiety and our health can hold us back from pursuing our dreams, share some deeply traumatic for everyone except Dad childhood memories involving an impressive amount of sick, and ask a bigger question: Do we lose parts of ourselves as we grow, or do all our experiences merge together to create a new version of who we are?
As always, no scripts, no filters, just honest conversations, questionable memories, a little bit of the unexplained, and plenty of laughs along the way.
☕ Put the kettle on and join us.

Episode Seven: From Pencil to Land rovers
Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. (https://rss.com/podcasts/monkey-me/voicemail)
Episode 7
This week on Monkey & Me, there’s no particular topic… just a good old fashioned chat that somehow takes us everywhere.
Dad shares a strange little encounter with a stranger, we get deep into his love and knowledge of Land Rovers, and we chat about different types of people and why we should be able to accept that not everyone is the same as us. There’s also a little language lesson, including Sophie being called out for her pronunciation!
Dad then has a rant about the unnecessary anger that can come after car accidents, before taking us back to his days working as a gravedigger and sharing a few stories from the job. He also has his rant of the week about how Club biscuits seem to have shrunk... outrageous!
And finally, we get onto small talk…something Dad really isn’t a fan of. When people ask what he does for a living and he doesn’t think they genuinely need to know, he’ll sometimes make up the most bizarre jobs just for his own amusement.
No script, no particular plan… just Dad and daughter talking about absolutely everything and a bit of nothing.

Listener Question: Books, Language & The Silmarillion
In this bonus episode, Dad and I answer another listener question and, as always, one question somehow turns into several completely different conversations. 😂
We chat about our favourite books as children compared with the books we love as adults, how language has evolved, and whether people even talk properly anymore!
Dad also tells me about one of his favourite books he’s currently reading… although getting him to actually pronounce the title is a whole different story. 😂📚
There are a few laughs, a few differences between our generations, and plenty of opinions along the way.
Just two generations, one question, and absolutely no guarantee we’ll stay on topic. ☕️🎙️

Episode 6: The Curious & The Unexplained - Part Two - Where Did This Conversation Go?
We were supposed to be continuing our conversation about the unexplained…
And we did. Sort of. 😂
In this episode, Dad and I find ourselves wandering down a few more mysterious rabbit holes, from Stonehenge to the fascinating power of trees and whether there really is something healing about being amongst them.
We briefly venture into the world of the Illuminati, before somehow ending up in much more personal territory, including Dad revealing that he started smoking surprisingly young… something that genuinely shocked me!
And then, because apparently no conversation between us is stays on topic for very long... we somehow end up discussing tequila, questionable decisions and (little warning) vomit. 🤢😂
So, no… this isn’t a perfectly structured exploration of the unexplained.
It’s two generations, one conversation, a lot of curiosity, a few rabbit holes and absolutely no idea where we’re going to end up next.
Grab a cup of tea and come and get curious with us. ☕️🎙️
Because honestly… one thing really does lead to another.

Episode Five: The Curious & The Unexplained - Part One
The Curious & the Unexplained — Part One
Important tea related information..
You may notice, at various points throughout this episode, the unmistakable sound of dad putting his cup of tea down.
it is simply dad contributing to the sounds effects department.. over a cup of tea... quite literally
What happens when a conversation over a cup of tea takes a few unexpected turns… and suddenly you’re talking about numbers, coincidences, myths, legends, folklore and the things we just can’t quite explain?
In this episode, we dive into the curious, the strange and the unexplained, exploring some of the stories, patterns and ideas that have fascinated people for generations.
From the meaning we give to numbers and repeated patterns, to ancient myths, folklore and those wonderfully weird moments that make you stop and think, “Okay… what are the chances of that?”
Is it coincidence? Is there something more to it? Or are our brains simply very good at finding patterns and meaning?
There are no scripts and definitely no expert answers here... just a genuine conversation between a dad and daughter, following the rabbit holes wherever they lead.
And there were a LOT of rabbit holes. 😂
So many, in fact, that we couldn’t fit everything into one episode…
This is Part One — and Part Two is coming soon. 🐇
☕ Grab a cuppa, settle in and come get curious with us.
In this episode:
✨ Numbers & patterns
✨ Coincidences and synchronicities
✨ Myths & legends
✨ Folklore
✨ Strange and unexplained ideas
✨ The stories we tell ourselves about the unknown
✨ And plenty of completely unplanned tangents!
As always, thanks for listening and joining us for another chat.

Episode Four: Music, a surprisingly lengthly conversation about Cheese & New Chapters
This episode we have Summer, my little sister and Dad's third daughter, joining us for a chat.
As Dad puts it Summer has the attention span of a Goldfish, so naturally the conversation goes off on a few… tangents. We chat about a bit of everything, music, parenting, starting a new chapter as Summer gets ready to move on to secondary school, and, of course, a surprisingly lengthy conversation about cheese.
It’s one of those episodes where we didn’t really know where the conversation was going to go, but that’s kind of the point of Monkey & Me. Just three of us, a cup of tea (Juice for Summer) and a chat that somehow manages to covers a bit of everything! Enjoy.

Episode Three: If We Could Tell Our Younger Selves... | Step Parenting, Life Lessons & Hindsight
In this episode, we look back at the advice we’d give our younger selves, share honest thoughts on the highs and challenges of step parenting, and reflect on the lessons life has taught us along the way. Expect plenty of laughs, a few heartfelt moments, and the usual unfiltered conversation over a cup of tea.

Episode Two: Confessions, Climbs and Classroom Crimes
This week we’re back with another father-and-daughter chat, and this one goes in all sorts of unexpected directions! Dad shares the story of climbing Ben Nevis, we look back at how different school discipline was compared with today (including a horrific yet somehow humorous headteacher story), swap a few light hearted confessions, and reminisce about Dad getting up to mischief, It’s another cosy conversation full of laughter, nostalgia, and the kind of stories that somehow get funnier every time they’re told.
