Episode 25 - Yaël Bitton 🇬🇧

Yaël Bitton is an award-winning documentary editor, writer and story consultant, with over 30 years of experience. Born in Geneva and trained in Brussels, she spent a decade in New York, beginning as a script supervisor for Wim Wenders before turning to editing. For over two decades, she has shaped bold, complex nonfiction films with directors worldwide - always drawn to sound, music, and the cinematic potential of form. She recently edited “La Muraille” by Callisto McNulty (Vision du Réel 2025), “Nocturnes” by Anirban Dutta and Anupama Srinivasan (Special Jury Award at Sundance 2024), and “Kix” by Balint Revesz and David Mikulán (CPH:DOX 2024). A member of the Academy’s Documentary Branch, Yaël teaches through Doc Nomads, Zelig, DOK Incubator, Visions du Réel, and Ex Oriente. In this episode, we spoke about navigating the intricacies of nonfiction, the delicate, sometimes invisible authorship of the editor and the importance of developing a soundscape: “because sound is time”, as Yaël says.

Hosted by: Beppe Leonetti and Anna Savchenko

Language: English

Editors Anonymous is a podcast dedicated to film editing.
