Christ Intercessory Work
In this message, we explore the profound and multifaceted role of Christ as our eternal mediator, moving well beyond the simplistic notion of "standing in the gap" to examine the full scope of His active, ongoing intercession. We delve into the biblical reality that Christ’s intercessory work is profoundly specific and intimate; He mediates exclusively on behalf of those the Father has given Him out of the world, rather than the world at large. By carefully examining the supporting scriptures, we unpack the vital theological foundations of election and limited atonement, providing much-needed clarity on the exclusivity, purpose, and total efficacy of Christ's prayer life.
Central to our study is a deep, verse-by-verse dive into John 17, which stands as the most extensive and intimate example of intercessory prayer recorded in the Holy Scriptures. Through this passage, we reveal the heart of the Son toward those who belong to Him, exploring the weight of His petitions and the assurance of our preservation in Him. This episode is designed for those seeking a rigorous, doctrinal study that stays rooted in the text, reflecting the solemn and reverent tradition of the Primitive Baptist faith. Join us as we consider how Christ’s role as mediator serves as the bedrock of our hope and the ultimate expression of divine grace. Whether you are a student of Reformed theology or simply someone looking to deepen your understanding of the Savior’s work, this message offers a comprehensive look at the singular nature of His intercessory ministry.
