He Equips the Unqualified: Hearing God's Voice and Growing in the Prophetic Gifts

After a few months away, I'm finally back, and this one is a heart to heart about something God has been stirring in me all year: hearing His voice and growing in the prophetic gifts.

I get honest about the season I've been walking through (business stress, an ongoing legal battle, theology studies, singleness, and the in-between of waiting on God) and how, right in the middle of it, He has been speaking more clearly than ever. We talk about what it feels like when God drops a word into your spirit, why He gives gifts of the Spirit to ordinary people, and what to do when you feel completely unqualified for what He is calling you into.

We sit with Ezekiel 2:2-7 and 1 Corinthians 12, and I share why I believe the Lord equips us in His timing, gives us the words, and uses our community to confirm what He is saying.

If you have ever thought "I'm not prophetic enough" or "I'm not equipped for this," this conversation is for you. Grab your coffee, friend. Let's get into it.

If this blessed you, follow DAUGHTERS so you never miss an episode, and share it with a friend who needs the encouragement.

Christian Mentoring Need someone to talk to or pray with? Biblical Counseling vs Therapy: What Secular Psychology Gets Wrong | Dr. Greg E. Gifford

In this episode of DAUGHTERS, I’m joined by Dr. Greg E. Gifford, Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling at The Master’s University, ordained pastor, and a certified counselor with ACBC.We talk about biblical counseling vs therapy, why mental health diagnoses and prescriptions keep rising, and how Christians can think clearly about mind vs brain, the body and the soul, and what it looks like to rely on Scripture when anxiety hits.Dr. Gifford also shares insights from his book Lies My Therapist Told Me: Why Christians Should Aim for More Than Just Treating Symptoms, where he evaluates popular mental-health claims through a biblical lens and calls believers to pursue real transformation, not just symptom management. In this conversation, we cover:- Who is Dr. Greg E. Gifford?- What is biblical counseling?- Biblical counseling vs secular therapy: the core difference- The rise of diagnoses, labels, and self-diagnosis culture- Mind vs brain: why the distinction matters- “The body keeps the score”: what’s true and what’s overstated- Medications, responsibility, suffering, and hope- Practical help: what to do when anxiety hitsConnect with Dr. Greg E. Phil’s Journey From New Age Rituals to a Relationship With Jesus

In this episode of DAUGHTERS, I’m joined by Phil for a conversation about leaving the New Age behind and discovering the freedom of salvation by grace. We talk about the reality many people experience in spiritual searching: it can start out looking bright, but over time it becomes a bottomless pit of striving, rituals, and “one more thing” you need to do to finally feel whole. Phil shares what that season looked like for him, what he was truly hungry for, and the turning points that led him to surrender his life to Jesus.Phil also shares a powerful God moment where an online testimony video deeply impacted him, and later, God connected him to that story in real life in a way that confirmed He was weaving the details all along. We also talk about obedience and discernment, including Phil’s decision to move back to Austria, rebuilding community and routine, and the ways God has provided. Finally, we dive into music, worship, and what changes when you stop creating for yourself and begin serving the Lord.If you feel tired of striving, this episode is for you. Jesus does not offer another ladder to climb. He offers a foundation. A life built on the Rock.Connect with Phil: https://www.instagram.com/phil.alexander.music

Christian Mentoring Need someone to talk to or pray with?
