GLP-1 Weight Loss: Quick Fix or Long-Term Cost?

GLP-1 medications are everywhere right now, promising rapid weight loss and better blood sugar control—but at what cost? In this episode of Mother Nature’s Doctor, Dr. April Schulte sits down with naturopathic physician Dr. Christopher Lepisto to unpack the growing buzz around GLP-1s and peptide therapies. Together, they explore what these treatments actually do in the body, why they’re so effective in the short term, and the potential long-term consequences that often go unaddressed. This conversation goes far beyond weight loss. You’ll hear a thoughtful, honest discussion about root-cause medicine, the connection between emotional health and metabolism, and why sustainable healing requires more than a quick fix. From gut health and nutrient absorption to muscle loss, cravings, and the deeper “why” behind weight gain, this episode challenges the idea that faster is always better—and offers a more holistic path forward. If you’ve been considering GLP-1 medications, are currently using them, or simply want to better understand your body and your health, this episode will give you a grounded, empowering perspective. Dr. Lepisto can be contacted via his website at www.grandjunctionnaturopath.com or by phone at (970) 250-4104.

Women in Business Conference: Listening to Your Body: How Balance, Energy, and Emotions Affect Health

Breakout recording from the Women in Business Conference held on March 11th, 2026 at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, CO Dr. April Schulte, a doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, explains how traditional Chinese medicine views health through the balance of yin and yang energy. Yin represents rest and restoration, while yang represents activity and productivity. When these forces become unbalanced, it can lead to stress, burnout, digestive issues, anxiety, and fatigue. In this talk, she shows how the body’s symptoms are actually signals guiding us toward better health. She explains how key organ systems in Chinese medicine like the kidneys, spleen, and liver influence energy levels, emotions, digestion, and overall well being. Dr. Schulte also shares practical ways to restore balance including better sleep, seasonal nutrition, stress management, movement, and simple qigong exercises that help move energy through the body. Her message is simple: when we learn to listen to our bodies and restore balance, we can lead healthier lives and show up stronger in both business and everyday life.

From Stage Three Breast Cancer to Whole-Person Healing, Rose's Story

At 58 years old, Rose went in for a routine mammogram. What followed was a stage three breast cancer diagnosis that turned her world upside down. In this powerful and deeply personal episode of Mother Nature’s Doctor, Dr. April Schulte sits down with Rose to share her journey through chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and infusions — and the unexpected challenges that continued even after treatment ended. But this is not just a cancer story. It is a story about transformation. Rose opens up about: The emotional impact of diagnosis and telling her children Lingering side effects after treatment, including neuropathy and digestive issues The connection between gut health, stress, and stored emotions Recognizing a lifetime of people pleasing and learning to set boundaries Calming the nervous system so true healing can occur Integrating holistic medicine with conventional cancer care Reclaiming identity beyond the word “cancer” What began as a search for relief from neuropathy became a yearlong commitment to deeper healing — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through acupuncture, nutritional support, counseling, faith, time in nature, and intentional self care, Rose rebuilt her strength and rediscovered herself. She shares how listening to her body, building the right healing team, and becoming more accepting rather than expecting changed not only her health, but her life.
