From Basement Beginnings to Building a Business | With Rachel Ament
Starting a business isn’t always glamorous, and there’s a whole lot more that goes into it than what you see on social media.
In today’s episode of Motherhood Rewritten, I’m sitting down with my sister-in-law, Rachel Ament, to talk about the real, unfiltered journey of building her boutique from the ground up.
From starting in her basement to growing a successful small-town business, Rachel shares the behind-the-scenes realities of entrepreneurship. The hard work, the sacrifices, the uncertainty, the lessons learned, and what it looks like to keep showing up even when things aren’t easy.
We dive into building a business with God at the center, trusting His timing, navigating the ups and downs, and learning to prioritize your own health and self-care while pouring so much into something you’re passionate about.
This conversation isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about faith, perseverance, taking imperfect action, and being willing to work for the things God has placed on your heart.
Whether you’re a business owner, dreaming of starting something, or simply navigating a season that requires a little extra faith, there’s something in this conversation for you.

BONUS EPISODE: Stop Letting Judgmental Julie’s Live Your Life
You have the opportunity to make a bigger impact than you probably give yourself credit for — but not if you keep holding yourself back because you’re worried about what Judgmental Julie might think. 😅
In this bonus episode, I’m talking about the quiet watchers — the people who may never like, comment, share, or interact with what you’re doing, but are still being encouraged, inspired, and impacted by you.
I’ve seen this firsthand in my own business. Some of the women who have joined Burnout-Free Mom barely interacted with my content beforehand, and lately I’ve had moms reaching out almost weekly telling me something I shared encouraged them.
You truly have no idea who is watching.
So if God is calling you to share something, start something, create something, speak up, or simply show up more boldly… don’t let the fear of someone else’s opinion keep you from the people you’re meant to reach.
Judgmental Julie is going to judge somebody anyway. 😂 Let her.
Her sour attitude is hers to carry — not yours. Go do your thing.

Part 2 of my women's health journey: my adenomyosis story
A little over a year after being treated for pelvic congestion syndrome, the symptoms came back, and this time it wasn't PCS. In this episode I share the whole trial-and-error road: thinking it was PCS again, then a fibroid (it wasn't), getting dropped by Mayo, and finally getting an adenomyosis diagnosis confirmed. At 29 years old, I had a hysterectomy to remove my uterus and one ovary.
I talk through my symptoms, how I found providers who actually helped me, and what recovery has looked like. Today I feel the best I have in probably a decade.
This isn't a "get a hysterectomy and all your problems are solved" episode. It's a reminder to trust your body and advocate for yourself. I requested my own MRI, found my own OBGYN, and found another one to move my surgery up. No one is going to push for you the way you will.
Your health gives you the capacity to live more life, and what you do in your 20s, 30s, and 40s is what you'll live in your 50s, 60s, and 70s. Take this as your sign to stop putting it off.
If you want support caring for your health with faith at the center, because they aren't two separate things, DM me on Instagram at @kristyn.rude. I'd love to hear from you. 💛

My Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Story | Part 1 of My Women's Health Journey
In Part 1 of my women’s health journey, I’m taking you back to 2024—when I finally started getting answers after months of knowing something just wasn’t right.
I’m sharing my experience with pelvic congestion syndrome: the symptoms I was living with, the testing and procedures that led to answers, what treatment looked like, and the emotional side of finally having someone validate that the pain was real.
This episode is also about advocating for yourself when you know your body, continuing to push for answers, and the gratitude that comes when you finally hear, “We found something. We can treat this.”
If you’ve ever felt dismissed, confused, or alone in your own health journey, I hope this reminds you to keep asking questions and keep advocating for yourself.
And of course, God is woven through every part of this story.

7 Years Will Go By Anyways
Seven years are going to pass either way.
In this episode of Motherhood Rewritten, I’m talking about what can happen when you stop waiting for the perfect season, more motivation, or a calmer life before you start taking care of yourself.
Seven years ago, I made a decision that changed the direction of my life. I stopped waiting to feel better before I started showing up for myself. And looking back now, I can see just how much can change when you keep choosing yourself, your health, your faith, and the life you want to build — even imperfectly.
This episode is for the mom who keeps thinking, “I’ll start when things slow down.”
Because the truth is, life may not slow down.
But seven years will still go by.
So what could be different if you started now?
If you’re ready to stop doing this alone and want support creating routines, taking care of your health, getting out of the all-or-nothing cycle, and becoming a calmer, more present mom, Burnout Free Mom might be for you. 🤍

I Know You Can, God… But Will You?
What do you do when you fully believe God can change your circumstances… but you don’t know if He will?
In Luke 5, a man with leprosy approaches Jesus with a bold but surrendered prayer: “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
And whew. That one hit me.
Because trusting God doesn’t mean we stop wanting a certain outcome. It doesn’t mean we stop asking, hoping, or praying boldly. It means learning to trust His heart even when we don’t know His plan.
In this episode, we’re talking about the difference between surrendering an outcome and pretending we don’t care, finding peace before the prayer is answered, and recognizing that Jesus doesn’t wait until we’re on the other side of the hard thing to come near to us.
If you’re carrying a prayer that sounds a little like, “God, I know You can… but will You?” — this episode is for you. 🤍

Navigating Seasons
In this episode of Motherhood Rewritten, I’m talking about learning to recognize the season you’re in instead of constantly fighting it or expecting yourself to operate at full capacity in every area of life. Motherhood is constantly changing, and different seasons require different priorities, routines, goals, and expectations.
Navigating seasons .pdf
I share what this summer taught me about letting my business operate at its “minimum effective dose” so I could be more present with my kids—and why maintaining something for a season doesn’t mean you’re failing.
Navigating seasons .pdf
Whether you’re in a season of building, maintaining, resting, recovering, letting go, or simply being present, the goal isn’t to rush into the next one. It’s to ask what God is asking of you right here, support yourself accordingly, and remember that you don’t have to maximize every area of your life at once to still be moving forward.
Core takeaway: Not every season is a scaling season—and that doesn’t mean you’re falling behind.

Episode 7 - Come to Me Before You Fix Yourself
What if you didn’t have to fix yourself before coming to Jesus?
We live in a world that constantly tells us to do more, be more disciplined, lose the weight, get organized, become more confident and finally get it together.
But Jesus gives us a completely different invitation: Come to Me when you’re weary.
In this episode of Motherhood Rewritten, I’m sharing a piece of my own story and the moment I realized I was trying to carry far too much on my own. We’re talking about faith, motherhood, burnout, health, identity — and why taking care of your body is important, but it was never meant to become the thing that determines your worth.
If you’ve been exhausted, overwhelmed, trying harder and wondering why it still doesn’t feel like enough, this episode is your reminder:
You don’t need to add another thing to your to-do list.
You can come to Him exactly as you are. 🤍
🎧 Listen now and share this episode with a mom who might need this reminder today.

Episode 5 - Why a Moms Health Journey Needs to Start DIFFERENTLY
Most moms already know what healthy looks like.
We know protein matters. We know vegetables are good for us. We know we should move our bodies.
So why does it still feel so hard?
In this episode, I’m sharing why I don’t start with meal plans, calorie tracking, or workout routines inside Burnout Free Mom—and why I believe that’s exactly why women finally experience lasting change.
We’ll talk about:
* Why information isn’t the problem
* How overwhelm sabotages healthy habits
* The connection between mindset, faith, and consistency
* Why routines reduce decision fatigue
* How lasting health is built from the inside out
If you’ve ever felt like you “just need more discipline,” this episode is for you. You don’t need another diet—you need a foundation that supports the life you actually want to live.

Episode 4 - Keep Going
Motherhood changes us. Life changes us. And sometimes the hardest part isn’t starting over—it’s letting go of the version of ourselves we’re constantly trying to get back to.
In this episode, we’re talking about why comparing yourself to your “old self” keeps you stuck, how to grieve what was while embracing where you are today, and why the smallest faithful steps often become the biggest transformations. Whether you’re rebuilding your health, your confidence, your faith, your marriage, or simply trying to make it through a hard season, this is your reminder to stop looking backward and keep moving forward.
Because God isn’t asking you to have it all figured out—He’s asking you to be faithful with today. ❤️

Episode 3 - You Have Free Will
In this episode of Motherhood Rewritten, we're talking about the power of free will and how the invisible rules we create often keep us stuck.
Instead of believing you have to do everything or nothing at all, what if you chose the smallest next step? Whether it's putting away five pieces of laundry, taking a 10-minute walk, or reading two pages, small actions create momentum.
This week's challenge: Every time you catch yourself saying, "I have to..." pause and ask, "Do I actually have to, or am I choosing to?"
Progress doesn't require perfection—it starts with one small choice.

Episode 2 - Are you running from a bear? (stress)
Have you ever felt completely exhausted… even when you haven’t done anything “hard”?
What if your body has been living like it’s running from a bear?
In this episode of Motherhood Rewritten, we’re talking about how chronic stress affects our bodies, why so many moms feel stuck in survival mode, and how to start finding peace again. I’ll share a personal story from my own health journey, a simple mindset shift that has changed the way I handle everyday stress, and how our faith invites us to stop carrying burdens we were never meant to hold.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or like you’re constantly trying to keep up, this episode is for you.
Take a deep breath, friend. Maybe you’re not running from a bear after all. 🤍

Episode 1: Living Boldly (whatever that means for you)
Episode 1 is a reminder that confidence isn’t becoming someone new—it’s becoming comfortable being who God created you to be. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect season, more confidence, or someone else’s approval before pursuing your dreams, this episode is for you. Let’s talk about showing up boldly, embracing who you are, and trusting God right where you are today. 💛
