Podcast Overview

Life is a series of judgment calls. Investing is one of the best places to learn how to make them. It requires us to judge value, risk, people, incentives, opportunity, timing, and an uncertain future, and then act without knowing exactly what will happen. On this channel, I work through real investments, businesses, opportunities, and consequential decisions. I share what I see, the assumptions I question, the tradeoffs I weigh, and how I arrive at a judgment. Most of the conversation begins with investing and business. But the thinking applies anywhere we are trying to see reality clearly and choose wisely. I’m not here to try to provide all the right answers. I’m here to help ask better questions, think more clearly, and make better judgment calls because the quality of our lives (and investments) is heavily influenced by the quality of our judgments.

The Skill That Made Buffet, Bezos, and Musk So Successful

Most people look at Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk and see three completely different men. An investor. A retailer. An engineer.

But there's one skill underneath all three of them. It's the same skill, and almost nobody is taught it.

In this conversation, Jake and I recap what came out of our last weekly meetup, where one of the guys hit the exact wall a lot of business owners eventually run into: the business is growing, but the way he's been running it hasn't grown with it.

He's working harder than ever and it isn't working. That opened up one of the best conversations we've had. We get into the moment a leader's job quietly changes and nobody tells him.

Why the hardest worker in the company is so often the reason it stalls.

Whether you can hand off the thing you don't understand, and what happens when you do. And the question that turns all of it personal: what exactly did you do with last night? Because it turns out this isn't really a business skill at all. It's a life skill. And you're already using it, every single day, whether you know it or not.

Register for our weekly live meetups at https://www.moveright.me.

📺 Subscribe to the channel.

🌐 More: https://www.moveright.me

When Everyone Leans On You, Who Do You Lean On?

If you're the person everyone leans on, you already know the feeling. The business, the family, the pressure to have every answer, and quietly underneath it, the sense that if you set any of it down, it all comes apart. So you carry it. Alone. But what if the weight you've been carrying was never yours to carry in the first place?

In this conversation, Jake and I recap what came out of our last weekly meetup, where a room full of guys got honest about the load they carry and the toll it takes. We get into three questions almost every man is wrestling with and rarely says out loud. What do you do when everyone leans on you and you have no one to lean on? Why does the future you imagine make you so anxious? And is the pressure you feel a warning that you're off course, or proof of something else entirely?

We don't think the answer is to carry less. We think most guys are missing something simpler, and it changes the weight completely.

Watch the full conversation, and if it hits home, there's a seat for you in the room.

📺 Subscribe to the channel.

🌐 More: https://www.moveright.me
