What It Takes To Build A Career In Dance & Stay True To Yourself | Kloe Dean On Move With Purpose

Welcome back to the Move With Purpose Podcast! In this episode, I sat down with the incredible Kloe Dean, choreographer, creative consultant and leader for an honest conversation about what it really takes to build a life and career in dance while staying true to who you are. We go right back to the beginning: creating full albums, putting on performances in the living room and even imagining tours from the bedroom. Long before the stages, credits and professional opportunities, there was a young creative with the confidence to dream, experiment and perform simply because she loved it. Kloe shares how those early experiences shaped the artist she would become, the importance of having safe spaces to express yourself, and the mentors and people who saw something in her before the industry accolades arrived. We talk about the journey from underground spaces into the wider dance industry, working alongside established artists, and what happens to your confidence and identity as the rooms around you begin to change. But this conversation goes beyond the CV.We explore whether formal performing arts training is really necessary, the difference between being taught steps and being developed as a whole artist, and why Kloe believes in seeing the person behind the dancer. We also unpack success, longevity and what it means to build a career that isn't solely measured by credits, big names or how impressive your CV looks. This is a conversation about purpose, mentorship, self-belief, artistic identity and creating your own lane.If you're a dancer, choreographer, creative or simply somebody trying to figure out how to turn what you love into something meaningful this episode is for you.
