If You’re Not First, You’re Sick. Yeah I Said It! (Episode 674)
The beginning of each month always seems to be slow for physical media but Erik Childress and Peter Sobczynski have some choice titles for you, especially if you ever wanted to see James Cagney and Mickey Rooney do Shakespeare. A couple hit comedies from Universal get a 4K upgrade as does one of Christopher Nolan’s favorite movies. You can also see the Todd Haynes film that helped put Julianne Moore on the map and one of the great films about defending the First Amendment, as timely today as it was 30 years ago about a time a couple decades before then.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Goes For The Record (Box Office Report – Aug. 2, 2026)
Bringing back the box office report to the podcast and what a week to take it for another spin. Spider-Man: Brand New Day brushed the “comic book fatigue” talk off its shoulders and had one of the biggest openings of all-time. (Stay tuned for the final Monday numbers as it could still take the record.) Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is headed for a pair of milestones. Olivia Wilde’s The Invite moves up the Sundance charts and Obsession joins an elite group of films in the top ten.
