#8 Pastor Nate And Lynze Mewhort, Eternal Evidence Of An Internal Process

In this episode of Moviemaker Ministry, host Thomas Proffitt sits down for an in-depth conversation with Pastor Nate and Lynze Mewhort. Together, they explore what it truly means to live a life shaped by the gospel, moving past the generic "snapshots" of cultural Christianity into authentic, lived-out faith. They explore the concept of faith as a lifelong marathon, unpack the dangers of superficial "Facebook faith," and address the phenomenon of "Ninja Christians" who try to walk with God entirely isolated from a local church community. In the second half, Thomas pulls back the curtain with Nate to examine the internal weights of pastoral ministry, sermon preparation, and the painful yet liberating process of detaching one's identity from a dream in order to fully surrender it to God. If you enjoy the show, please leave us a review and share this episode with a friend! At 85 years old, Homer brings a lifetime of wisdom to a conversation centered on the "True Gospel"—a message not of human effort, but of God's sovereign power to bring dead sinners to life. From the theology of the "New Birth" to the practical realities of suffering and pruning, Homer challenges us to look past a "watered-down" faith and embrace the life-changing truth of Jesus Christ. Success in any ambitious pursuit—whether filmmaking, business, or ministry—requires an intense focus on what truly matters. Today, host Thomas Prophet discusses the "Signal to Noise" ratio, comparing the hyper-focus of tech giants to the biblical calling of focusing on today's responsibilities. We dive into the practical application of prayer as a discernment tool. Thomas breaks down a "prayer technique" for finding mission-critical items each day and explains why a deep relationship with God is the ultimate business plan. He also shares a powerful daily prayer you can use to start your morning with a discerning heart. Discussion Points: The "Monster" Trap: Why we want the success of Steve Jobs without the personality flaws. [03:25] Scriptural Guardrails: Using the Word to distinguish between the Spirit and the flesh. [14:14] The Art of "Chewing": Meditating on Scripture like "a cow chews grass." A Love Letter To Filmmakers During Times Of Doom & Gloom

In today's episode, Thomas Proffitt delivers a "love letter" to the creative community, offering encouragement and a practical masterclass for writers and directors who feel lost in the current industry landscape. We explore the reality that filmmakers are no longer just competing with each other; they are competing with apps designed to harvest human attention. Thomas shares his personal journey of returning to Christ and how that shifted his perspective from "wanting to be the next Tarantino" to wanting to serve God’s people through film. Key Discussion Points: The Platform Strategy: Why you need to view yourself as an entrepreneur, not just an artist. Attention Boundaries: How to reclaim your "Deep Work" hours from social media. The Organic Creative Process: Why Stephen King’s approach to writing without an outline might save your scripts. My First Feature Film Day 1 Post Mortem | Behind The Scenes

In this post-mortem episode, filmmaker Thomas Proffitt offers a candid, behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and triumphs of Day 1 of shooting his debut feature film. After 15 years of preparation, Thomas details the overwhelming spiritual and emotional battle that accompanied finally stepping onto set. He shares essential practical and technical breakdowns, including: The Necessity of Multi-Cam: Why he used a four-camera setup and a specific lens package (25mm and 50mm) to maximize efficiency as the director, actor, and cinematographer. Lighting with Intent: The philosophical decision to use bright, non-moody lighting to reflect the film's theme, deliberately welcoming light spill for fast-paced shooting. The Directing Hack: His technique of using improv to get raw, emotional "living takes" from his actors right before delivering the script. This episode is a must-listen for independent filmmakers looking for practical, on-set wisdom combined with a thoughtful reflection on the spiritual fight required to create meaningful art. What Is Moviemaker Ministry?

Welcome to the Moviemaker Ministry Podcast. In this inaugural episode, founder Thomas Proffitt reveals the 15-year personal and spiritual journey that led him to merge his faith with his filmmaking. After a decade as a "doubting Thomas" and prioritizing his career over his relationship with God, Thomas shares how profound personal loss and experiences with narcissistic abuse caused his life to unravel. He details the supernatural event that changed everything, leading him back to Christ and fundamentally reshaping the script for his debut feature film. Thomas outlines the core thesis of the Moviemaker Ministry: seeking the Kingdom of God first doesn't just improve your personal life—it makes you a better, more successful filmmaker. This episode is a must-listen for any artist struggling to find purpose and peace in a difficult industry.
