[…] And enlisted the help of John Fox. Robert, John Fox and a quickly captured Natty were all arrested and taken to West Ham Police Station. Robert would be moved to Holloway Prison and evaluated by experts in mental health until the trial which began at the Old Bailey on September 9th, 1895. The defence asked the jury to focus on Robert's mental health, which definitely seemed the correct path as his behaviour was to say the least odd. Smiling, laughing and jeering witnesses... He seemed to be having a great old time. The Coombs family doctor testified that Robert suffered regularly from severe headaches, probably caused by a forceps delivery at birth, for which he still carried the scars on the side of his head.
