MUSIC is not a GENRE

About MUSIC is not a GENRE

MUSIC is not a GENRE goes beyond music critique, opinion, and gimmicks to get at the heart of music & how it connects to the world - from the perspective of a TRUE MUSIC INSIDER. Every kind of music is discussed and connected to cultural, social & political issues in unexpected ways. It challenges music lovers to think as if THERE IS NO BOX AT ALL. No music can be confined to a genre. And music itself can't be separated from the rest of the world. DOLLY PARTON - Death is DUMB Vol. 19 | MxG - Season 9 Episode 4

How could I NOT do a Dolly Parton episode? Sad that it ends up being my 19th volume of Death is DUMB. But however she got to MxG, she deserves as much spotlight as we can shine. I go over her history & legacy, give you some recommended listening from each decade, and talk about why I should even be doing this episode at all.

The MxG TOP 40 (feat. REC) | PODFAST #40

To celebrate the 40th edition of PODFAST, I’m doing an old-school TOP 40 COUNTDOWN of the artists I’ve mentioned the most in the seven-year, nearly 400-episode run of this show. It’s a great way to illustrate how broad MxG’s subject matter is, and how I don’t just CLAIM that MUSIC is not a GENRE, I prove it. I also give you an update on my band REC and my crazy schedule.

(DON'T) QUIT YOUR DAY JOB – Actors Who Make Music | PODFAST #39

I’m not just a singer/songwriter/producer. I’m also a stage/film/TV actor, voice actor, writer and visual artist. I know what it means to be multi-disciplinary. So I thought it’d be fun to spotlight several dozen actors who have also had substantial music careers, and tell you which ones are worth listening to. There are far more than you think.
