5# (DK) Getting a job in Denmark - Being a Man in the Workplace - Can We Define Being Danish?
Dear listeners! Welcome to the Danish Matters Podcast 'My Danish Experience - for, with, and about Bonus Danes in Denmark' and to 5# Getting a Job in Denmark - Being a Man in the Workplace - Can We Define Being Danish? Jesse from the Netherlands is my guest and we talk about a lot of different things. Jesse has learned Danish but not in a conventional way. One thing he did was learn from a stay at a folk high school. There are many of those in Denmark, one is Toftelund for music and theatre in the southern part of Jutland (Sønderjylland): https://musikogteater.dk/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5JSLBhCxARIsAHgO2SfDlDuUaxFKfGctl_nrX7RxIuJsafRP7vfe4J1MfRCY7E1Z0FOVCqkaAvAwEALw_wcB Jesse mentions a Youtube channel called 'Dansk udtale'. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCELY640l4PvwswWPTfMQ5YA My guest and I also talk about working in Denmark and going to job interviews as well as being a man in the workplace and men working with children. We also touch upon the challenging question: what defines a Dane? Jesse also mentions taking an initiative when socializing in Denmark. This and much more you can hear about in this episode of My Danish Experience Podcast. Joe also mentions some attractions in and near Århus, Jylland (Jutland): Djurs sommerland: https://djurssommerland.dk/en/ (https://djurssommerland.dk/en/) Den gamle by i Århus: https://www.dengamleby.dk/en/den-gamle-by/ (https://www.dengamleby.dk/en/den-gamle-by/) Aros: https://www.aros.dk/en/ (https://www.aros.dk/en/) Mosegård museum: https://www.moesgaardmuseum.dk/ (https://www.moesgaardmuseum.dk/) Trapholt museum: https://trapholt.dk/en/ (https://trapholt.dk/en/) Joe also mentions volunteer work: https://www.frivilligcenteraarhus.dk/ (https://www.frivilligcenteraarhus.dk/) My guest and I are speaking in Danish but I recommend that although you might not understand all of it that you still listen and learn what you can from it as well and hopefully also get a feeling of connectedness and inspiration for your own life here in Denmark. 2# (DK) Let Go of Your Frustrations - Get Involved
My guest who was born and raised in Finland touches upon many different topics in this episode of My Danish Experience podcast. What can you learn from Danish movies? What do Danish parties look like from the outside? The inevitable question: how do you get Danish friends while keeping an international core within yourself? This, and that it’s okay to be different and that you can be Danish your own way is also put into perspective. My guest is also talking about another language that helped her learn Danish as well as giving her views on Danish culture, including Janteloven. My guest and I speak in Danish but I recommend that although you might not understand all of it that you still listen and learn what you can from it as well and hopefully also get a feeling of connectedness and inspiration for your own life here in Denmark. The sound in this episode could’ve been better, especially when I speak but fortunately, my guest has a lot to say and this means that you won’t hear my voice that much. If you would like to participate in My Danish Experience Podcast, please write to tina@danishmatters.dk (mailto:tina@danishmatters.dk) - this is also the email that you can use if you’re interested in a Danish course with me/Danish Matters. 1# (DK) Drillenisser - Cph joys - taxes and rules
The Danish Matters Podcast: My Danish Experience - for with and about bonus Danes in Denmark In this first episode, I talk to my former Spanish student who has lived in Denmark for several years. It’s a conversation about various topics from the joy of living in Copenhagen to taxes and that the Danish society has rules and systems; the odd custom to have flags on busses; how it is to get Danish friends and that it might actually be easier to speak Danish at lunch at your workplace than you might think. Also, what do you do when your child is asked what ‘drillenissen’ did today? My guest mentions this useful Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/303205293731223 All of this and much more, I talk to my guest about – we speak in Danish but do listen even if you don’t understand that much Danish yet! Get a nice listening experience and a sense of connectedness and inspiration with a fellow bonus Dane! Stock Music provided by gestonwreen, from Pond5
