I'm level 67, and I am loving it. I've noticed some of my friends buying into the myth that getting older means giving up. What?! That is just malarkey! It is NEVER too late. In 1979, a group of elderly men lived as if it were 1959. They dressed the way they did back then and spoke the way they did in their youth, and after just one week their posture, strength, and even their memory improved. My point is, the words you speak and the thoughts you keep become the life you live. If you can't get up off the floor, it's because you haven't practiced getting up! So take the stairs, and don't retire from living while you're still alive.

How Sobriety Gives You a Life You Never Imagined with Sheldon Jernigan | Part 2
Last time, Sheldon and I talked about the hard stuff. This time we're talking about the good stuff, the things you get back in recovery. For most of my life I've been waiting for Sheldon to get sober. But this time I was waiting on the side of the road in downtown Panama City holding a poster, watching my son ride his bike around the corner at the end of a 500-mile ride. And that kind of waiting was so beautiful.
There's a difference between not drinking and recovery. Recovery gives you a life you can't even imagine. Sheldon tells us about riding Ruckus to Relief with his friend Daniel Barousse. A bunch of misfit skateboarders rode 500 miles to raise money for free skateboards for kids. Then we get into why this time was different, and how dancing again brought back his joy. Sheldon said it best: people just want to see you alive and moving, and that's enough.

Nine years ago, I hired a private detective to find my son in California. He had been homeless on the street and I barely recognized him. But today I’m SOOO grateful he's sitting across from me and he’s sober in my adorable studio. 💛
By popular demand, Sheldon is BACK, and this time we're talking about addiction, family, and the long road to recovery.
Sheldon explains why people remain in addiction far longer than anyone expects them to and how drugs literally hijack the brain. Sheldon also shares how this all started. He talks about the day his father left us, and the deep need for a man to simply see him. I open up about the family history of addiction I grew up in, and the hope I hold onto today.
