About My Role in The Safe System

We’re pleased to announce that the Project EDWARD podcast has returned with the new title: My role in The Safe System. For the forthcoming season, we are planning monthly episodes starting Friday 27th October and leading us up to the Project EDWARD Parliamentary Reception. We will be working hard on presenting content that’s sparkling and compelling – as well as on growing the audience, which we believe should primarily be those with a professional interest in road safety, transport planning, sustainability, active travel, future mobility, etc.

What does effective fleet-risk management look like beyond fewer collisions and lower insurance costs? Lisa Malone, Risk Management Consultant with Aon’s Strategic Risk Consultancy team, joins Project EDWARD to explore the human side of safer driving for work. From using telematics and claims data fairly to recognising fatigue, stress and unrealistic schedules, we discuss how employers can turn insight into meaningful action. One of Britain's most eminent criminologists, his career has spanned policing, penal policy and public attitudes to crime. In recent years he has turned his attention to a radical new question: what does the car tell us about crime, harm, and justice? His Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship, running until 2028, pursues the project 'Car harms: Automobility and the objects of criminology', and his landmark paper 'Beyond Motonormative Punishment', published in the British Journal of Criminology in 2026, is already reshaping how we think about road safety, law, and regulation…
