<p>Our fourth special guest in this podcast series is my very good friend Alicia Beard. &nbsp;Alicia is an Emergency, Crisis and Business Continuity Management expert working full time at Deakin University as their resilience SME, whilst adding to her already impressive academic achievements, completing her masters in emergency management and graduate certificate in the psychology of risk (not bad choices if I do say so myself). In this episode we discuss the impact that COVID has had on the tertiary sector, COVID conspiracy theories and how the tertiary sector may look post COVID.</p> <p><strong>About Alicia:</strong></p> <p>In addition to Alicia's current studies, she also holds a Master’s degree in Policing, Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism, and undergraduate degree in Psychology and Philosophy. &nbsp;She has vast experience in emergency and crisis management, and more recently business continuity within a variety of sectors such as mining, engineering, and all levels of education. &nbsp;More recently, due to COVID-19 &nbsp;she has been working from home, helping direct schooling of two primary aged kids, a large dog that is loving having multiple walks a day and a timid cat that has no idea why she home all the time.</p>

<p>Our third guest in this podcast series is Russell Dippy, &nbsp;Emergency Management expert, &nbsp;in both the professional and academic world. In this episode Russell discusses the impact COVID19 has had on our emergency services profession, Resilience in times of crisis and the future of emergency management.</p> <p><strong>About Russell:&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>Russell DIPPY is a professional emergency manager and the emergency management coordinator for an Australian State police agency. &nbsp;He has over 30 years experience as a volunteer in a national first aid and ambulance organisation, paired with 35 year policing career including over 20 years within his current role. &nbsp;He is currently undertaken a Professional Doctorate where he is examining the Human Capacities of the Australian Emergency Manager. &nbsp;He holds a Master of Emergency Management with Distinction and a Vocational Graduate Certificate in Management (Learning) and a range of vocational qualifications in management, leadership and HR. &nbsp;&nbsp;He has been deployed internationally with an Australian Government disaster medical assistance team and was a founding member of the Australian Emergency Management Assistance Team. &nbsp;He has been deployed interstate to support other jurisdictional emergency management responses. &nbsp;He has contributed to many reviews of Australian emergency management policy and doctrine in policing and emergency management generally. &nbsp;He is a regular reviewer of Australian Institute of Disaster Resilience Handbooks and other national publications. &nbsp;He is also a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), holds the Certified Emergency Manager designation and is currently part of the IAEM Oceania Executive, is a member of the Australasian Institute of Emergency Services and is working with The International Emergency Management Society (TIEMS) to support further professionalisation of the emergency management profession.</p>
