Qari Nadeem Dawood completed the memorization of the Holy Quraan at the age of 13 in 2002. He thereafter matriculated at the Zakariyya Muslim School in Stanger, Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2006.
He studied the sciences of Tajweed, Qira’ah , Arabic and Tafseer on a Tertiary level and then went on to further the study of the different modes of recitation ( السبعة القراءت.(
He then further pursued voice training and studied the “Arts of the arabian melodies” (المقامات (under leading Local and International Scholars. He has been authorized with an Ijaazah (license to transmit) as well as Isnâad allowing him to form part of an accredited chain of transmission which has been endorsed by the Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
Qari Nadeem has traveled extensively locally and Internationally and represented South Africa in many competitions and programs namely in: Mauritius, Rodrigues Island, Reunion, Iraq, Egypt, Norway and Malaysia.
He has also been granted the honour of being 1 of only 2 South Africans to have recited in the Grand Blue Mosque of Istanbul-Turkey in 2014 and 2015 (Masjid Sultanahmet).
He has also shared platforms with many of the best reciters from the Arab world such as Shaykh Hajaaj Al Hindawi & Shaykh Mahmood Shahat amongst others in live audiences that have been broadcasted on radio and television, from amongst them being his mentors and close friends.
Frequently recites on local radio stations and televison stations such as CII, Al Ansaar, Radio 786, iTV and CTV. Is a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM) and currently involved in Business.
