Moses is still on Mount Sinai—but the people below are starting to wonder if he will ever return. While they wait, God gives Moses a plan for living among His people: the tabernacle, the Ark, the priests, the sacrifices, and the worship that would shape Israel’s relationship with Him. God is holy, and His presence is not something to approach casually. Yet He is not pushing His people away. He is making a way for them to be near Him and providing a way to deal with their sin.
But while God is giving Moses a way to live with His people, something very different is happening below the mountain. The people are growing impatient—and their fear and doubt are about to lead them somewhere dangerous.

Moses: The Road to the Promised Land — Part 16: The Words of the Covenant
Mount Sinai burns with fire. Thunder rolls, lightning flashes, and the people tremble as God speaks. In Exodus 20–24, Israel receives the Ten Commandments and the laws that will shape life as God’s people—from worship and justice to mercy, property, debts, and care for the vulnerable.
Moses brings God’s words to the people, and Israel makes a solemn promise: “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” The covenant is sealed with blood, and Moses, Aaron, their sons, and seventy elders enter God’s presence and share a meal before Him.
Then Moses climbs the mountain once more. The glory of the Lord covers Sinai, and Moses enters the cloud for forty days and forty nights.
But below the mountain, Israel is waiting.
Days become weeks. Moses does not return.
And as the people grow restless, their promise to obey God is about to be tested.
Following God is easy to promise in a powerful moment. The real test comes when we have to wait.
