020 - Moses Part 6 - Egypt Feels Pain

In Moses: The Road to the Promised Land, Part 6 — Egypt Feels Pain, the plagues on Egypt become more personal and more painful.

Pharaoh has already seen the Nile turn to blood, frogs cover the land, gnats rise from the dust, and flies swarm through Egypt. He has even heard his own magicians admit, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh still refuses to let Israel go.

So the Lord sends Moses back with another warning. This time, Egypt’s livestock will be struck. Horses, donkeys, camels, cattle, sheep, and goats will die in the fields. But God will make a clear distinction: the livestock of Israel will be protected. Pharaoh is given the warning, the timing, and the evidence. He even sends men to check Goshen. Not one animal belonging to Israel has died. Still, Pharaoh hardens his heart.

Then comes the next plague. Moses throws soot from a kiln into the air, and painful boils break out on people and animals across Egypt. The suffering reaches Pharaoh’s court. Even the magicians who once stood against Moses cannot stand before him anymore. Egypt’s pride is being exposed. Its wealth, strength, magic, and false gods cannot save them.

This episode helps kids understand that the plagues were not random disasters. 019 - Moses Part 5 - The Finger of God

The Nile had turned to blood. The frogs had covered the land. Pharaoh had begged for relief, and when relief came, he hardened his heart again.

In Part 5 of Moses: The Road to the Promised Land, the Lord sends the third and fourth plagues on Egypt: gnats from the dust of the earth and swarms of flies throughout the land. At first, Pharaoh’s magicians had seemed able to copy the signs God gave through Moses and Aaron. But when Aaron strikes the dust and gnats swarm over Egypt, the magicians fail. They cannot copy it. They cannot stop it. And at last they tell Pharaoh the truth: “This is the finger of God.”

That moment matters. The wise men of Egypt, the men who served Pharaoh and tried to answer God’s power with their own, finally admit that something greater than Egypt is at work. The Lord is showing that His power is unmatched in heaven and on earth.

Then the Lord sends swarms of flies, but this time He does something new. He makes a distinction between Egypt and Goshen, where the Israelites live. Egypt is ruined by the flies, but God’s people are set apart. The Lord shows that He does not lose His people in the middle of judgment. He knows where they are. He knows how to protect those who belong to Him.

Pharaoh begins to bargain. He offers half-obedience. He tells Moses and Aaron they may sacrifice, but only within Egypt. Then he says they may go into the wilderness, but not very far. Pharaoh wants relief from God’s judgment, but he still wants to stay in control.

This episode teaches that people can know the truth and still refuse to obey it. Pharaoh saw the power of God clearly, but pride kept him from bowing. The warning is not just for Pharaoh. We should not wait until trouble forces us to admit that God is Lord. We should humble ourselves before Him now.

Based on Exodus 8.

Search terms: Moses, Exodus, Exodus 8, Moses and Pharaoh, plagues of Egypt, ten plagues, gnats and flies, finger of God, Bible story for kids, children’s Bible story, Christian podcast for kids, kids Bible podcast, Old Testament stories, Sunday school, family Bible study, Nate’s Bible Stories.

018 - Moses Part 4 — The Nile Turns and the Frogs Rise

Moses: The Road to the Promised Land — Part 4: The Nile Turns and the Frogs Rise

Pharaoh has already seen the staff become a serpent. He has already watched Aaron’s staff swallow the staffs of Egypt’s magicians. He has already been warned by the Lord. But Pharaoh still refuses to let God’s people go.

In this episode of Nate’s Bible Stories, we continue the dramatic showdown between Moses and Pharaoh in Exodus 7 and 8. The Lord strikes Egypt with the first two plagues: the Nile turns to blood, and frogs cover the land.

The Nile River was the lifeblood of Egypt. Its waters fed crops, carried trade, supplied fish, and sustained the kingdom. Egypt trusted the Nile. Egypt trusted Pharaoh. Egypt trusted its gods. But through these plagues, the Lord shows that He alone rules over creation, kings, rivers, nations, and every false god people place their trust in.

Watch as:

• Moses confronts Pharaoh at the Nile

• Aaron strikes the river with his staff

• The waters of Egypt turn to blood

• Fish die and the river begins to stink

• Pharaoh’s magicians imitate the sign but cannot heal the river

• Frogs swarm over Egypt, filling homes, ovens, bedrooms, and kneading bowls

• Pharaoh begs Moses to plead with the Lord for relief

• God removes the frogs at the exact time Pharaoh requested

• Pharaoh hardens his heart once again

This episode also explores the symbolic meaning of the seven days the Nile remained struck. Throughout the Bible, numbers often carry meaning, and the Bible expects us to notice that. The plague lasting seven days shows that this judgment was measured, intentional, and fully under the Lord’s control.

The magicians of Egypt could imitate parts of the signs, but they could not stop judgment, bring healing, or provide relief. Only the Lord could do that. Pharaoh begins to realize what all Egypt will soon learn: there is no one like the Lord our God.

Perfect for:

• Christian families

• Bible study for kids and adults

• Homeschool Bible lessons

• Sunday school supplements

• Bedtime Bible stories

• Kids learning the story of Moses and the Exodus

• Parents looking for faithful biblical storytelling

• Listeners interested in Old Testament theology and biblical symbolism

In this episode we discuss:

• Moses and Pharaoh

• The ten plagues of Egypt

• The Nile turning to blood

• The plague of frogs

• Hardness of heart

• False gods and idols

• God’s judgment and mercy

• Exodus 7 and 8 explained

• Biblical symbolism in the plagues

• Why Pharaoh hardened his heart

• Yahweh versus the gods of Egypt

Search terms:

Moses, Exodus, Pharaoh, ten plagues, Nile turns to blood, plague of frogs, Exodus 7, Exodus 8, Bible stories for kids, Christian podcast for families, Nate’s Bible Stories, Moses and Pharaoh, Old Testament stories, Bible podcast, kids Bible story, homeschool Bible, Sunday school story, Yahweh vs Egypt, hardening Pharaoh’s heart, biblical symbolism, Christian storytelling, Bible study podcast, family Bible podcast, theology for kids, Bible lessons for children, plagues of Egypt explained, river Nile blood, frogs in Egypt, Aaron staff, Moses podcast, Christian audio story
