The Pilgrims: Covenant People

Episode Description: Before Plymouth Rock, there was a covenant. The Pilgrims who sailed to the New World in 1620 were gathered around an open Bible under a banner reading "God With Us" — and they brought with them the biblical seeds of religious liberty, self-government, and equality. Their first Thanksgiving was an act of worship. Their 1623 day of fasting and prayer brought miraculous rain that saved the colony. And their example launched over 1,400 government-issued prayer proclamations in New England alone. This is the Pilgrim story most people never heard.

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14; Psalm 107:1; Genesis 12:1-3

Source: WallBuilders — Iconic Moments: Events of Faith and Prayer (wallbuilders.com)

Read more: nations4jesus.blogspot.com

First Landing: America's Forgotten Covenant with God

Episode Description: Before Jamestown, before Plymouth Rock, before the Declaration of Independence—on April 29, 1607, English settlers landed at Cape Henry, Virginia, erected a wooden cross, and dedicated this land to Jesus Christ. Reverend Robert Hunt prayed a covenant: "We do hereby dedicate this Land to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel and to raise up Godly generations...may this Land be Evangelist to the World." For over 400 years, American Christians have sent more missionaries than any nation. The covenant still stands.

Scripture: Psalm 33:12; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Matthew 28:19-20; Genesis 12:1-3

Source: First Landing 1607 Project (firstlanding1607.com)

Read more: nations4jesus.blogspot.com
