Nigeria’s story is complex, but it shouldn't be opaque. Native Land Chronicles is a grounded, audio-visual platform designed to explore the policies, history, and culture shaping our nation. Through foundational context and candid dialogue, we humanise public figures and platform the patriotic moments that define our national identity. Whether we are unpacking the personalities behind the headlines in Inside Stories or tracing historical power structures in our Deep Dives, we provide the full picture that mainstream media often misses. Every citizen has a place in this story.
Follow the Money: How Terrorism Is Actually Funded in Nigeria
Terrorism in Nigeria is not only a military problem. It is a financial one.
Each of the country's seven proscribed terrorist groups funds itself differently — taxation, kidnapping, gold mining, and diaspora fundraising among them. This episode traces the money: how ISWAP built an actual tax administration across the Lake Chad Basin, how bandit networks in the Northwest turned kidnapping and illegal mining into a criminal economy, and how IPOB sustains a movement from thousands of miles away. It also looks at what the Nigerian government is doing to shut the tap — from freezing accounts to regulating cryptocurrency to halting mining across the north.
You cannot shoot your way out of a financing problem. This is what fighting it on financial terms actually looks like.

Nigeria’s Narco-President? What Everybody Gets Wrong About The Tinubu Case
In 1993, a US Attorney filed a case with a strange name: United States of America v. Funds in Account 263226700 Held in the Name of Bola Tinubu (and others).
For three decades, that case has been treated as either proof or propaganda — depending on who's talking. What almost nobody has done is read the actual documents. So we did. In our lates Deep Dive for the Native Land Chronicles, we walk through the late ‘80s early ‘90s heroin sting that started it all, the accounts linked to Tinubu, and the settlement that saw $460,000 forfeited and over $1 million returned.
If you’re interested in learning more about how this case has been (mis)handled over the years, hit the like button, share with friends and we’ll drop a second part. Because, whilst the court proceedings ended in 1993. This story does not.
