Hintergrund: Indien wählt
Es ist eine organisatorische Herausforderung: die größten demokratischen Wahlen der Welt. Von Mitte April bis Anfang Juni sind in Indien knapp 970 Millionen Wahlberechtigte aufgerufen, ein neues Parlament zu bestimmen. Ob im entlegensten Himalaya-Dorf oder in den Slums der Megacitys Delhi, Mumbai oder Kalkutta – überall sollen Wählerinnen und Wähler ihr Stimmrecht ungehindert ausüben dürfen. Favorit ist Premierminister Modi, der sich gute Chancen auf eine dritte Amtszeit ausrechnet. Die Opposition zeigt sich dagegen schwach und uneinig.

Litauen: 20 Jahre in der EU und der NATO
Am 11. März 1990 erklärte Litauen seine Unabhängigkeit. Kurz darauf folgten Lettland und Estland. Die damalige Sowjetunion versuchte die Unabhängigkeits-Bewegung im Baltikum noch mit Gewalt zu verhindern - erfolglos. Früh strebte Litauen dann die Aufnahme in die Europäische Union an. Am 1. Mai 2004 - vor 20 Jahren - traten die drei baltischen Länder dann gemeinsam bei. Bereits im März wurden die ehemaligen Ostblock-Staaten Mitglieder der NATO. Bis heute ist das Verhältnis der baltischen Länder zu Russland angespannt. Seit der Annexion der Krim 2014 und Russlands Angriff auf die Ukraine sorgen sich die Menschen auch in Litauen um ihre Sicherheit. Trotz Unterstützung durch NATO und EU.

Glück kann man lernen, sagen die Finnen
Drei Beispiele haben wir uns herausgepickt: Den Resilienz-Unterricht in finnischen Schulen: Kinder lernen von klein an, mit herausfordernden Situationen umzugehen, über Gefühle zu sprechen und Stress abzubauen. Außerdem besuchen wir eine Einrichtung von "Housing First": Obdachlose, großenteils mit Suchterkrankung, bekommen einen großen Vertrauensvorschuss vom Staat und eine Wohnung gestellt, um sich dann in Sicherheit um die eigene Gesundheit etc. kümmern zu können. Zusätzlich sprechen wir mit Forschern, die die Studie erstellt haben und fragen, was wir von Finnland lernen können.
