079: All things must pass
<p>It was exactly one year ago that the first episode of the Near Native podcast was published (back then it was called English with stories) starting my own podcast was quite an interesting project to take on, full of challenges and adventures, and I loved every part of this journey. I love teaching, I love sharing ideas and experiences, but above all else, I love talking to people, connecting with them, and learning from them.</p> <p>But like the George Harrison song says, "All things must pass." I must sadly abandon this project to make room for other goals and dreams in my life. I hope you enjoyed the episodes we produced, they will be available until the end of this month, after that you won't be able to listen to or download any of the Near-Native podcast episodes. </p> <p>Take care, I wish you a lot of success in your language-learning journey! <p>Welcome back dear listeners! After about a month-long hiatus the Near Native podcast is back with another episode, although I regret to tell you that the next two episodes (this one and the following) will be the last of the podcast! </p> <p>It has been a pleasure and an absolute honor to have been the host of this podcast, I sincerely hope you all enjoyed and benefited from the episodes. <p>This week’s episode features the great Kuroda Sensei as a special guest. We start the conversation by discussing her reasons for moving to Okinawa, aka, “paradise on earth,” and then we talk about this wonderful region of Japan, the beauties it has to offer and how it differs from the mainland. Put on your headphones and join the conversation!</p> <p><em>Important words in this episode</em></p> <p><strong>Minimalist:</strong> A person who tries to live with the fewest possessions possible. </p> <p><strong>Futon:</strong> A type of mattress which is used on the floor, originally from Japan, that can be rolled up.</p> <p><strong>Prefecture:</strong> A political region or local government area in some countries, for example Japan, France, and Italy.<br /> <strong> </strong><br /> <strong>Buckwheat:</strong> Small, dark grain used for feeding animals and for making flour</p> <p><strong>Karate:</strong> A sport, originally from Japan, in which people fight using their arms, legs, hands, and feet. The level of skill a person has is shown by what color belt they wear.</p> <p><strong>Tenure:</strong> The right to remain permanently in a job. </p>
