Summer’s over, the Nerdherfers are back, and apparently we have some explaining to do.
This week, there’s no elaborate topic, no deep dive into nerd culture, and absolutely no expectation that the conversation stays on the rails. We’re just catching up on what we’ve been doing all summer — the trips, the movies, the shows, the random crap we’ve been into, and whatever other nonsense has happened since we last checked in.
Along the way, we’re enjoying the Jameson Distillery Edition and smoking the Montecristo Cuban Edmundo while doing what we do best: shooting the sh!t, telling stories, and inevitably wandering into topics we never intended to discuss.

This week, we're boldly going where Hollywood has gone far too many times before—into the wonderful, weird, and occasionally terrifying world of sci-fi parodies and remakes.
Because apparently, if you make a great science-fiction movie or TV show, Hollywood's first question isn't, “How do we make another great one?” It's, “How can we remake this in 20 years and piss off everybody who loved the original?”
We're talking about the classics that got the parody treatment, the remakes that actually worked, the ones that absolutely should have been left in the Phantom Zone, and the timeless question: Why the hell do studios keep messing with things we already liked?
We'll be wandering through everything from Star Trek and Star Wars to Battlestar Galactica, The Twilight Zone, Planet of the Apes, and whatever other beloved piece of our childhood Hollywood decided needed a “fresh take.”
And because no Nerdherfers discussion is complete without something good in the glass and something burning in the ashtray, we're enjoying New Riff Kentucky Straight Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon alongside the Definition Kinsman cigar.

S3 Ep16: The Internet - It was better when it sucked

Well... this episode went off the rails. We were supposed to be talking about the early days of the internet—the glorious age of dial-up, GeoCities, chat rooms, Napster, and waiting three f***ing minutes for a JPEG to download.
And we do talk about that. For a little while. Then things take a turn.
Because somewhere between “Remember when the internet was fun?” and “Hey, look at this ancient website,” we started asking the important questions: When did the internet become the worst place on Earth? Why did we give social media the keys to civilization? And is the modern internet actually making everybody dumber?
Spoiler alert: we have theories.
We're talking algorithms, outrage, misinformation, doom-scrolling, people arguing with complete strangers, and the possibility that humanity collectively invented the greatest communication technology in history...
...and immediately used it to yell at each other about politics, movies, and whether a hot dog is a sandwich.
Meanwhile, we're enjoying a pour of High West Double Rye and smoking the Principle Accomplice, because if we're going to diagnose the collapse of civilization, we're damn sure going to do it with good whiskey and a cigar.
So grab a drink, light one up, and join us as we travel from “You've Got Mail” to “What the hell happened to everybody?”
The early internet was supposed to connect us.
Instead, it gave everyone a microphone.
