Stephen King’s THE LANGOLIERS Is So Weird… We Had to Talk About It | Weird, Bad & The Bloody
The Langoliers (1995), a Stephen King sci-fi/horror story that was made as a two-part TV miniseries. It’s based on his novella from Four Past Midnight.
The story follows passengers on a flight from Los Angeles to Boston who wake up and discover that almost everyone on the airplane has mysteriously vanished. They land at an abandoned airport where there are no people, food has no taste, everything feels “dead,” and a strange noise keeps getting closer.
Eventually they realize they’ve slipped out of normal time and into the recent past. The Langoliers are bizarre, tooth-filled creatures that essentially consume the past after it has happened, destroying everything behind the present timeline.
It’s about 3 hours long, stars David Morse, Bronson Pinchot, Dean Stockwell and Patricia Wettig, and has become something of a cult movie—especially because the 1995 CGI Langoliers look pretty wild by today’s standards.
If you like The Twilight Zone, The Mist, The Thing, or weird time-loop horror, it’s worth watching.
