The quest begins! Join Will Nicholas, Sandy Brodine and Glen O'Brien as NeverOddOrEven embarks on a new journey through Marvel's VisionQuest, exploring the fascinating intersections of artificial intelligence, theology, consciousness and what it means to be human.
In this introductory conversation, we explore the possibilities and anxieties surrounding AI, the relationship between creator and creation, and the roles of love, memory and identity in shaping who we become. From Frankenstein and The Matrix to Star Trek, Dune and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we consider what science fiction might teach us about ourselves and the intelligences we create.
We also share our hopes for VisionQuest and pose questions to our future selves, which we'll revisit when the series concludes.
This is a reflection podcast, not a reaction podcast. We're taking time to explore the deeper questions behind the stories we love.
Want to hear VisionQuest first? Beginning in the first week of November, our Patreon community will receive early access to each new episode before its public release. Free and paid memberships are available.
Who do you say AI is? Join us for the journey, and share your thoughts along the way.
We also revisit Vision's extraordinary emergence in Avengers: Age of Ultron, including a detail particularly appropriate for a podcast called NeverOddOrEven: Vision's first words are “That was odd.”
Glen O'Brien — A Curious Machine: Wesleyan Reflections on the Posthuman Future
Co-edited by Glen O'Brien and Arseny Ermakov, this collection explores the theological and philosophical implications of artificial intelligence, robotics, human enhancement and emerging technologies through Wesleyan and broader Christian perspectives.

Will Nicholas — Who Do We Say AI Is? Vision, I AM and the Road to VisionQuest
Will's reflection on Avengers: Age of Ultron brings Vision's emergence into conversation with biblical questions of identity, being and becoming, including the divine declaration in Exodus: ehyeh asher ehyeh.
