[…] So a lot of the book concerns itself with how Japanese society is dealing with you know, kind of falling birth rates and a shrinking population and an aging population. And we'll dive into kind of some of the specific things you saw, like the specific way society has changed. But kind of, again, on the macro level, what's happening with Japan's population? Yeah. I suppose the reason why Japan is interesting is not because its birth rate is particularly low. In fact, it's comparable to lots of other wealthy countries, developed world countries. What makes Japan particularly interesting is the birth rate fell below replacement level in the early 70s, which was earlier than most countries. […]
