"Obeying The Great Commission: Move With Compassion” - Audio
"Obeying The Great Commission: Move With Compassion”
Acts 10:36-38 ESV
Why did Jesus go about doing good everywhere he went?
The answer is simple: COMPASSION
Matthew 9:35-38 ESV
Luke 10:25-37 ESV
But here’s a key to effective ministry: You can’t see people’s true need from a distance. To truly see them and their needs, you have to care enough to get up close and personal. You have to invest yourself in their lives.
The story of the Good Samaritan also reminds us that Christlike compassion has a cost.
Ephesians 4:30-32 ESV
Having received the compassion (mercy) of Christ ourselves, let us look for opportunities to show His compassion to others.

Matthew 13:47 NIV
sagéné: Dragnet
Original Word: σαγήνη
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: sagéné
Pronunciation: sah-GAY-nay
— a large fishing-net, a drag-net used in catching fish that swim in shoals
** In a biblical context, a shoal of fish refers to a great multitude or crowd of fish swimming together.
In first-century Galilee large dragnets (seines) were hauled by teams of fishermen from boats or from the shoreline.
Luke 5:1-11 NIV
Matthew 13:47-50 NIV
1.) Kingdom evangelism does not discriminate. Its invitation must be extended to “all kinds of people”, even the bottom dwellers. No one should be excluded from or crossed off the invitation list.
2.) Proximity is not inclusion. Good fish (people that will escape final judgment) are those who genuinely repent and place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
Our job is to drag the gospel net through the community and bring in whatever we catch. It’s time to cast your net for Jesus!
