Braving The Near Impossible (Voice Log)
Episode 38. What’s harder than running a marathon? Traveling internationally as a solo new mom with a very active 10 month old baby and a dog ~ two busses across the island of Mallorca, a flight from Palma to Amsterdam, and another bus ride home. The episode opens with a final beach outing to let Hayes play in the waves, enjoying a homemade pizza and getting some preparation work done. Then the travel day starts at 6am with deep cleaning the large vacation house and packing up the bags. From there, the journey unfolds including hiccups like waiting on the side of the road for a delayed bus in the heat of the Spanish sun, Hayes spilling a much awaited cappuccino, a turbulent flight, delayed baggage, and a cold, rainy walk home in The Netherlands. This journey required a lot of willpower and patience at every step along the way but some highlights include helpful fellow passengers, a gorgeous sunset during landing, and her partner Clay waiting at the bus station to help. Plus two serendipitous encounters at the airport. The episode wraps up with a positive reflection about how important it is to do hard things and get out of your comfort zone to stretch your capacity and confidence. Planning The First New Wave Group Trip
Episode 37. An exciting update for the New Wave community ~ the first group trip is in the works! If your nervous system is craving a space where you are taken care of, massages are booked, nourishing meals are cooked by a private chef, mindful movement is planned, and you can fully exhale… then this trip could be perfect for you. Allison shares how her personal timeline is opening up, which means she has the capacity to start truly planning something she’s been dreaming about for years. A New Wave Reset Retreat in 2027. She takes listeners behind the scenes on her history with Tulum ~ from luxury stays at Azulik, to budget backpacker hostel stays, to living at a yoga resort, and in multiple apartments around town. Throughout the years, her ‘boots on the ground’ experience has led her to find her favorite aspects of this magical place. And now she wants to show YOU! Allison is currently deciding which group to cater towards… or ideally… all three! As someone who’s been to 20+ countries solo, hosting a session for solo female travelers is very appealing. But when she visited last winter with 10-week old baby Hayes, she realized how deeply women, mothers, and caretakers need a space where someone else handles everything for them, so she’s also considering a session with provided on-site childcare. And as a new parent, she’s noticed the strain it’s put on her relationship and how much more intentional she has to be with her partner to carve out quality time, so a couple’s retreat could also be really special. Do any of these groups resonate with you? If so, please fill in the questionnaire to help vote on trip dates, length of stay, and desired amenities / activities. Your answers are going to shape whether, when, and how this becomes real Mentions/Links:Please Fill Out - Questionnaire / Survey (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd1kx-FtW9iHWDpw0-keJxPaUsAchy-XbG1mRDRxmP2kslHog/viewform?usp=header)Secure Your Spot - Make A Deposit (https://allisonwetig.com/new-wave-reset-tulum) For those who are eager to secure a spot on the trip, you can make a deposit (https://allisonwetig.com/group-trip/p/secureyourspot). Allison plans to keep retreat sessions very intimate so there will likely only be 4 to 8 spots per session. The deposit will be refundable up until 2 weeks after dates are announced (for example: if retreat dates are announced December 1st, you’ll have until December 15th to confirm if you are able to join. If you can’t make it, you can get your deposit back). Once the trip is live, there will also be ‘pay in full’ and ‘payment plan’ options. 10km Coastal Hike on Alcúdia Bay (Voice Log)
Episode 36. Allison is still in Mallorca, finding the balance between slow days and exploring the island. As she was taking out the recycling, she was looking off into the distance to the next town. She thought, “maybe Clay would want to join me for a coastal hike.” With some very brief research, she found a walking trail and health-food cafe that would make the perfect destination to refuel before hiking the 5km back. She brought the idea to Clay and he eagerly agreed but said “well we need to leave now for me to make it back in time for my client calls!” They strapped Hayes into the carrier and were out the door within a few minutes, no bags, and no preparation. The couple candidly talks along the 10 kilometer coastal hike sharing observations such as the calmness of the ocean, the benefits of barefoot walking, an octopus spotting, and playing a bonding game that includes gratitude and some good laughs. They enjoy a delicious and nutritious lunch ~ sharing an açaí bowl, poke bowl, banana date smoothie, and cappuccino. Time passed quickly so Clay had to run home. Allison took Hayes to the park nearby where he met a new baby friend and got all his energy out. She carried her tuckered out baby all the way home in the heat of the Spanish day. The evening ends in one of their favorite ways with homemade pizza, red wine, and gelato. Allison shares a serendipity moment involving someone from her hometown, a purchase from her store and the crazy coincidence of being in the same corner of the world at the same time.
