Sat down with Conway Xu, founder of Breakin’ Boundaries, a hub for dancers to have open access to general business advice. Today, we talk on Nico’s philosophies within the athletic-art and dance style of breaking in relation to business. Nico refers to his habits, battle scars, and lessons of ‘responsible communication’, ‘asking nicely’, and assessing what your personal risk tolerance is to achieve desired results in breaking and/or business. I provide a consultation and brainstorm session with my crewmate, Jon ‘La Boogie’ Labuga, (Uncomfortably Fresh, San Diego) + long time best friend for 2-hours as he develops his personal breaking program. From in-person 1on1 classes to group classes there are so many variables to consider when teaching a hobby / art form / dance style, that is really a lifestyle versus form of movement that leads into a single recital or short-term performance.
