#15 - Onze democratie crasht (met Kees Verhoeven)
Kees Verhoeven was Tweede Kamerlid voor D66 en ondervond aan den lijve hoe in Den Haag het spel wordt gespeeld, hoe je tot resultaten komt, hoe je in de media komt, en hoe dingen niet altijd met elkaar overeen komen. Als Kamerlid, als campagneleider, als vice-fractievoorzitter, als IT politicus van het jaar. Zijn analyse: onze democratie is aan het crashen. Daarom schreef hij het boek "De Democratie crasht" waarin hij beschrijft hoe onze democratie moeite heeft zich aan te passen aan alle digitale innovaties die de afgelopen decennia erbij zijn gekomen. Ik ga met hem in gesprek daarover, over komende digitale revoluties en over werken als kamerlid.

#14 - Over de stervende middenpartijen (met Matthijs Rooduijn)
We leven in een tijd waarin radicale flanken en splinterpartijen steeds vaker politieke successen behalen en een belangrijke plek innemen in het publieke debat. Gevestigde middenpartijen verlieven langzaam terrein. Matthijs Rooduijn - politicoloog aan de UvA - schreef een opiniestuk waarin hij betoogt dat middenpartijen zichzelf heel snel opnieuw moeten uitvinden als zij nog relevant willen bellen. Wij gingen met hem in gesprek. Waar zit de aantrekkingskracht van radicalere flankpartijen? Is het erg dat kiezers gevoelig zijn voor deze partijen? Als middenpartijen nog een toekomst willen hebben in een snel polariserende samenvatting, hoe moeten zij zichzelf dan opnieuw uitvinden? #13 - Is collectief straffen van voetbalsupporters eigenlijk wel OK?
Sinds het einde van de coronapandemie zitten de stadions weer vol. En er lijkt een verbazingwekkende opleving van het hooliganisme gaande, zoals we die de afgelopen decennia niet gezien hebben. Zelfs in de stadions is geweld terug. En ook geweldsloze incidenten zien we wekelijks terug: spreekkoren, bier op het veld. De KNVB besloot dat het tijd was voor drastische maatregelen: wanneer er iets op het veld terecht komt, dan wordt de wedstrijd gestaakt. Met als gevolg: wekelijks wedstrijden die gestaakt worden. Ook worden uitsupporters vaker geweerd. Het zijn straffen voor het collectief voor het gedrag van een enkeling of een kleine groep. Maar is dat eigenlijk wel zo handig (en uberhaupt ok)?
